Johnson, 65 Royce William Johnson, 65, of Wasilla, Alaska, and a former resident of Hudson, died June 21, in Republic, Mo. He was born, in Hudson, Feb. 19, 1938, the son of Emil and Agnes (Kirchener) Johnson. He attended Oak Ridge country school in the town of Troy and Hudson High School and was a U.S. Army veteran. As a free spirit, who liked hunting, hiking and fishing, he also enjoyed classical music and was an artist, continually expanding his horizons in the arts. He worked on the Alaskan Pipeline as a pipe fitter and was a member of the Wasilla city council. Surviving are his children, Steven (Jean) Johnson of Hanover, Minn., Sandy (Rick) Pint of Grand Rapids, Minn., Shelly (Donald) Balsimo of Stillwater, Scott Johnson of Houlton and Jesse Johnson of Mountain Grove, Mo.; eight grandchildren, Tanya Rael, Andy Johnson, Heather Hauer, Valerie Bartkey, Travis Johnson, Matt Johnson, Avery Johnson and Amanda Johnson; a sister, Leona (Wilfred) Andrle of River Falls; and a brother, James (Mary Ann) Johnson of North Hudson. Preceding him in death were his parents, two brothers, Gerald and Robert Johnson and a nephew Randy Johnson. A celebration of life will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, July 12, at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home chapel in Hudson with Fr. Peter Szleszinski officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service in the funeral home.
