She had been visiting her daughter, Barbara, in Superior when she suffered a stroke. She was born in Oneida Aug. 15, 1925, the daughter of Lawrence and Lillian (Elm) Johns, and grew up in Oneida. On Oct. 15, 1941, in Oneida, she was married to Dean R. King. The family came to Hudson in the 1960 and lived here into the 1980s but later they moved to Amery. While in Hudson, she was a clerk at Micklesen Drug Store. She was active in the Amery community, where she was a member of the Friends of the Library, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and Neighborly Nites Homemakers. She was also an active member of the Deer Park United Methodist Church and participated in the Wednesday morning Bible Study group. She also enjoyed traveling. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Dean, in 1999; and granddaughter, Katie. Surviving are three sons, Kenneth L. King of Hudson, Richard A . (Dolores) King of New Richmond and Thomas D. (Debbie) King of Rice Lake; a daughter, Barbara Ann King of Superior; a brother, Lawrence Johns of Rockford, Ill.; two sisters, Neva Mae of Oneida and Geraldine Smith of Milwaukee; seven grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Friday, June 25, at the Deer Park United Methodist Church with the Rev. Terri Koca officiating. Organist was Jane Johnson. Burial was in Willow River Cemetery in Hudson, where casketbearers were Dean King, Mike Miller, David King, Davie Pittman, Paul Grasser, Tony Petry and Norman Visner. She was born in Jackson, Minn., May 16, 1921, the daughter of Harold and Lucy (Fairbairn) Goff. She began her schooling in Robbinsdale, Minn., and continued at the Fisher country school and Ellsworth High School after her family moved to Ellsworth. On May 27, 1938, in Excelsior, Minn., she was married to Sylvester “Sal” Steiner. She was employed by the former Tri-County Savings and Loan (now First Federal) and the city of Hudson at the City Hall and the A.B. Dick Company doing bookkeeping and secretarial work. She enjoyed gardening, bowling, golfing, reading, playing cards and bird watching and also volunteered at the Phipps Center for the Arts and Hudson Memorial Hospital. She was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Hudson and a former member of the Hudson Golf Club. Surviving are a daughter, Patricia Mary (Steiner) Cameron, and a son, Robert LeRoy (Judy) Steiner, both of Hudson; four grandchildren, Scott Cameron and Catherine Cameron, both of Hudson, Chad R. (Jennifer) Steiner of North Hudson and Robert M. “Bobby” (Kathleen) Steiner of Chantilly, Va.; a granddaughter-in-law, Jami Steiner of North Hudson; and five great-grandchildren, CJ, Alivia and Payton Steiner, Connor Cameron and Cole Ober. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Sylvester (Sal), in 1982; a sister, Lucille; a grandson, Christopher Steiner, in 2002; and a great-grandson, Gabriel Steiner, in 1999. Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Friday, June 25, at Bethel Lutheran Church in Hudson with Pastor Joanne Sorenson officiating. He was an avid softball player, a talented artist and a member of the United Methodist Church in Hudson. Surviving are his wife, Chyanne Pechacek; two children, Hayden, who will be 3 in August, and Peyton, 10 1/2 months; his parents, Cal and Julie Pechacek of River Falls; a sister, Heather (Torrey) Prigge of Hutchinson, Minn., three nephews and four nieces. Preceding him in death were his grandfather, Lud Pechacek; an aunt, Marlys (Seifert) Langer; and an uncle, Jack Seifert. She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Hudson, where she married Ferris “Buck” Tulgren on Aug. 6, 1960. Surviving are her husband, Ferris “Buck” Tulgren of Hudson; four children, Helen M. (Brian) Richie of St. Paul, John E. Tulgren of Fountain Hills, Ariz., Ann B. (Bradley) Henningsen of St. Peter, Minn., and Thomas R. (Kerry) Tulgren of Hudson; and six grandchildren Taylor, Morgan and Nick Richie; Kaitlyn, Talia and Gianna Henningsen. Preceding her in death were her parents. Mass of Christian Burial is at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 24, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Hudson with Fr. Peter Szleszinski officiating. Organist Elsie Sandquist and the Hope Choir will provide music. Visitation will be on Thursday from 5 until 7:00 p.m. at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home of Baldwin, and one hour prior to the service at church on Friday.
