Her husband, who died Sept, 24, 2003, was a graduate of Hudson High School in 1936 and of Gustavus Adolphus College in 1940 and spent more than 40 years as an educator in Minnesota, mostly in Hopkins. He was the son of the late Albert and Olga Edstrom. A memorial service was at 11a.m. Thursday, Oct. 14, at Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Hopkins. Survivors are a daughter, Mary Ofstie of Minnetonka, Minn.; two granddaughters, Lisa (Aaron) Poley of Semi Valley, Calif., and Rachel Ofstie of New York City; a great-grandson, Luke; and a brother, Donald (Meredith) Peterson. A funeral service was at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Nekoosa with the Rev. Carl Kummer officiating. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery, in the town of Port Edwards, Wood County, Wis. She was born March 23, 1927, in Wisconsin Rapids, the daughter of Clarence and Bertha (Lipka) Henke. On Sept. 21, 1946, she was married to Dale Gerzmehle in Wisconsin Rapids. She worked in the print shop division for Nekoosa Edwards Paper Co. for 22 years, retiring in September 1986. She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church’s choir, was a wonderful cook and her greatest gift was her giving to others. Survivors include her husband, Dale, of Port Edwards; three sons, David (Shirley) Gerzmehle of Plover, Roger (Debra) Gerzmehle of Nekoosa and Dennis (Mary) Gerzmehle of Hudson; seven grandchildren, Dana (Rob) Gotz, Cory (Rebecca) Gerzmehle, Nyra (Ben) Lind, Jay Gerzmehle, Gabriel Gerzmehle, Greta Gerzmehle and Andrew Gerzmehle; three great-grandchildren, Caleb Gotz, Brett Gerzmehle and Caden Gerzmehle; two brothers, Harlan “Sam” Henke of Wisconsin Rapids and Wallace “Joe” (Nancy) Henke of Port Edwards; three sisters, Rosemary (Peter) Oesterreicher and Charlotte Carlson, both of Wisconsin Rapids, and Althea (Donald) Gunderson of Stevens Point. She was employed by Webster Candies and also Wisconsin Bell Telephone, both in Eau Claire. She was a longtime member of Lake Street Methodist Church. She loved gardening, craftwork, singing in the church choir, and designing and constructing church banners. Surviving are her husband, Chester; two sons, Michael E. Quale and Carl E. Quale, both of Eau Claire; a granddaughter, Beth (Clay) Johnson of Eagan, Minn.; a brother, Ingwald (Phyllis) Hendrickson of Altoona; and a niece, Jo Lasker of Lago Vista, Texas. Preceding her in death were her parents; a brother, Norman Hendrickson; three sisters, Gladys Rude, Ruby Davis and her twin sister, Harriet Missman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, photography, boating and doing home projects and was a member of the National Rifle Association. Wiech, 58 Friday, October 22, 2004 Gary D. Wiech, 58, of Hudson, died Sunday, Oct. 17, at the Hudson Hospital emergency room after 10-month battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born, May 6, 1946, in Red Wing, Minn., the son of Donald and VonCeil (Lifto) Wiech, and graduated from Hastings (Minn.) High School in 1964. During the Vietnam War, he enlisted and served in the U.S. Navy. He attended the St. Paul Technical and Vocational Institute, specializing in pipe fitting, and was an active member of the Pipefitters Local 455 for 35 years. Most recently, he worked as a project superintendent for the Harris Companies. For 15 years he was employed by Ramsey Construction and other mechanical contractors. On May 21, 1983, he married Robyn Peake in Harlowton, Mont. He was interested in sports, was an outdoorsman and an avid Vikings fan who relished a Packer defeat, enjoyed a quiet day on the golf course and loved watching his daughter, Darci, excel in sports. As an outdoorsman he was enthusiastic about camping, boating and traveling. While living in Montana, he enjoyed hunting big game but locally he enjoyed deer hunting and fishing. He was a trustee of his church and at one time was a member of the Hudson Lions Club. Survivors are his wife, Robyn; three children, Darci and Geof Wiech, both of River Falls, and Greg Wiech of San Diego, Calif.; his granddaughter, Jessica; his parents, Donald and Vonnie of Red Wing; four siblings, Vicky (Dan) Bottema of Clearwater, Minn., Marlis (Denny) Whitmore of Red Wing, Minn., Dennis (Kathy) Wiech of Hastings, Minn., and Kevin (Betty) Wiech of Hudson; seven nieces and eight nephews; his parents-in-law, Ed and Betty Peake of Paso Robles, Calif.; and two brothers-in-law, John (Jodi) Peake of American Falls, Idaho, and Bob (Tawny) Peake of East Helena, Mont. Preceding him in death were his grandparents, William and Ann Wiech and Gerald and Zella Lifto, and his niece, Beth Ann Wiech. The funeral service was at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 20, at the St. Croix Valley United Methodist Church in Lakeland. Visitation was at the church from 3 until 6 p.m. on Wednesday. Tom Burns, Tim Emmons, Brian Wert, DuWayne Davisson, Mike Ganz, John Hand and Scott Miller were casketbearers. A dinner/roast immediately followed the service at church Wednesday evening where friends and relatives shared memories. Surviving are two sons, Gary (Shirley) Brenner of Lyons, Colo., and Randall D. “Randy” Brenner of Trade Lake; a daughter, Kathleen Ann (Bradley P.) In 1952 she graduated from Hudson High School and received a bachelor of science degree from the College of St. Teresa in Winona, Minn., in 1956. Later she earned an advanced degree in social work from Loyola University in Chicago. She was a social worker with the Catholic Charities, first in Wausau and then in Joliet, Ill., for 30 years. She held various positions before joining the staff that worked with foster parents and foster child placements. She also was an avid Green Bay Packer fan. When living in Wheaton she was an active member of St. Michael Catholic Church, where she helped organize the church library Survivors are four sisters, Mary (Donald) Fischer of St. Paul, Barbara (Leo J.) Doody of Romeoville, Ill., Colette (James E.) Ruemmele of Hudson and Honora E. (Terrence P.) Lynch of Wauwatosa; and two brothers, John J. (Harriet) Salmon of Hudson and (her twin) Thomas Joseph Salmon of Oconomowoc. Preceding her in death were her parents, John and Honora Salmon; and three sisters, Eleanor Salmon, Rita Salmon and Eloise (Edward) Abbott. Visitation was at 9 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 9, until the time of the Mass at 10 a.m., at St. Daniel the Prophet Church, 101 W. Loop Drive, Wheaton, Ill., with entombment at Assumption Cemetery. She was born April 23, 1915, in Hudson, the daughter of Charles and Ida (Cornelison) Bourne. She was a longtime resident of Minneapolis. She was a past worthy high priestess of the Bethesda White Shrine of Jerusalem No. 12, a member of the Minnehaha Chapter No. 37 Order of Eastern Star and Daughters of the Nile. Preceding her in death besides her parents were her husband, Frederick S. Dahl, in 1994 and a son, Roger L. Burns, in 1997. Survivors are a nephew, Stanley Butcher; a niece, Sandra E. Card; and a daughter-in-law, Audrey Burns. The funeral service was at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 9, at the Henry W. He was born June 23, 1917, the son of John and Elizabeth (Mundt) Kempf in Stillwater. As a young man he worked for various farmers, the Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing Corp. for a short time and then for the shoe company in Stillwater for 18 years. In 1947 he began working for the railroad and retired in 1962. In 1960 he moved to a farm in Roberts. He enjoyed music, socializing, playing cards and dancing. He also sang in the church choir and played the saxophone with a concertina orchestra. He had been a 4-H club leader and avid wood worker, and as recently as this year displayed items at the St. Croix County Fair and the Wisconsin State Fair. He is survived by his four children, Kevin (Lee) Kempf of Roberts, Arthur (Marilyn) Kempf of River Falls, Darlene VanBeek of Star Prairie and Kay (Gene) Alm of Colesburg, Iowa; 12 grandchildren, Naomi (Doug) Dahl of Hudson, Bradley (Jodi) Kempf , Sheldon (Tracey) Kempf and Tammy Kempf, all of River Falls, Jason (Brandy) VanBeek of Osceola, Chad (Nikole) VanBeek of Star Prairie, Kyle Kempf of Roberts, Kerry (Darin) Schlueter of Osceola, Trevor (Angie) Kempf of Hammond, Erik and Brian Alm of Colesburg; and 15 great- grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his parents; a son, Ken; a brother, Gilbert; and a sister, Margaret Koehler. The funeral service was 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 6, at the Cross Lutheran Church in Roberts. Visitation was Tuesday, Oct. 5, from 4 to 8 p.m. in the O’Connell Family Funeral Home in Hudson and one hour prior to the service. Burial was in St. John’s Cemetery in Lake Elmo, Minn., where Bradley Kempf, Doug Dahl, Kyle Kempf, Trevor Kempf, Jason VanBeek and Chad VanBeek served as casketbearers. He was born July 14, 1928, in Chicago, the son of Henry J. and Siiri (Levander) Petrell. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict as a member of the Strategic Air Command. On Nov. 2, 1963, in Grand Forks, N. D., he married Donna Graham. A Hudson resident since 2001, he was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion. He enjoyed traveling to national parks in the United States and was also an avid woodworker, gardener and outdoorsman. Survivors are his wife, Donna; a daughter, Janet (Daniel Welch) Petrell of Hudson; stepdaughters, Royann (Sylvain Alee) Petrell of Vancouver, B.C., Canada, and Christine (James) Petrell-Kallevig of Cleveland, Ohio; four grandchildren, Melanie (Petrell) Sokoloski, Annette Petrell, David and Paul Kallevig; two great-grandchildren, Dakota Sokoloski and Kelly Petrell; two sisters, Milma Naeseth of Madison and Olivia Kissin of Spokane, Wash.; and two brothers, Wilfred (Ursula) Petrell and Edgar Petrell, both of Embarrass. Preceding him in death were his parents; a stepson, Graham; three sisters, Ruth Petrell, Martha Kaupp, Helen McElderry; and a brother, Roy. The funeral was at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 2, at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home in Hudson.
