Services were Saturday, Jan. 18, 1 p.m., at the United Methodist Church in River Falls with the Rev. Janet Ellinger officiating. Born April 14, 1925, in Ladysmith, he was raised in Hudson, attending elementry school at St. Patrick’s Catholic School and graduating from Hudson High School in 1943. On June 2, 1951, he was married to Claire E. Huber in St. Paul. Harold was a veteran of World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War and received numerous medals recognizing his service. He flew in B-24s, B-17s and B-29s as a bombardier and later as a navigator on B-47s with the Strategic Air Command, the demanding and prestigious part of the Air Force. He completed over 50 missions in the (Asiatic) Pacific Campaign including Phillipines, Luzon, Western Pacific, New Guinea, China Defensive and Bismark Arch. His last assignment in the Air Force was as a commander at a radar site located in Wilder, Idaho, just shortly after his return from Vietnam. He retired from the Air Force at Mountain Home Air Force Base in Idaho Sept. 1, 1968, and moved his family back to Hudson. He loved to deer hunt in Danbury and never missed a hunt in his 34 years of retirement. In between hunting and fishing he was an avid bowler. Surviving are his wife, Claire; four children, Carol (Marvin) Bedient of Caldwell, Idaho, Harry S. (Linda) Trieb of Baldwin, John A. Trieb of Hudson and James J. Trieb of Nampa, Idaho; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Olson, were two brothers, Victor and Harold Johns; and a sister, Melva Ellingson. Surviving are a son, Roger (Gayle) Martinson of Laural, Md.; three daughters, Alecia (Carroll) Wahl of Montgomery, Ill., Nancy (Wayne) Quilling of Menomonie and Bonnie (Douglas) Zahler of New Richmond; 15 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter; and a sister-in-law, Cece Johns of Ridgeland. Born June 7, 1911, in Corunna, Ind., the son of Nova B. and Christine (Alspach) Robbins, he graduated from Snohomish High School in Washington. On Aug. 29, 1934, he was married to Frances M. Highland. They had been longtime residents of western Washington before coming to Hudson in 1996. He began his work career at Snohomish Iron Works, Weyerhauser and with the U.S. Naval Shipyard as a machinist. During World War II he served in the Civilian Conservation Corps and with the Washington State Fire Prevention Authority. Following this, he worked for Boeing, HRL and Union Machine. He also worked for Lockheed and others as an architectural estimator, bidding on buildings such as the USAF Chapel in Colorado Springs. After retirement, he and his wife traveled in both the United States and Canada and he became an avid researcher of his family’s roots. He was a life member and past master of Edmonds Masonic Lodge #165 F&AM, past patron of Edmonds Court #56 Order of Amaranth and member of Royal Arch Masons, Council of Royal & Select Masters and National Campers & Travelers. Preceding him in death were his wife, Fran; and son, George, in 1999. Surviving are a son, Paul (Mary Knutson) Robbins of Cottage Grove, Wis., and a daughter, Marie (Butch) Schmit of Hudson; 11 grandchildren, Jerry Robbins, Laura Erickson, Renee Pound, Debi Pennington, Dan Robbins, Tom Robbins and Brent Robbins-Davis, all of Washington State, Lance Schmit of Baldwin, Kevin Schmit of Glenwood City, Andrew and Kristen Robbins of Cottage Grove, Wis.; 17 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-granddaughters. There will be a memorial service by the Hudson Masonic Lodge #56 F&AM at 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 24, with visitation one hour prior at O’Connell Family Funeral Home in Hudson. Shelley started a banking career, working at banks in Somerset and New Richmond, and on Aug. 21, 1993, she was married to Jerry Beam, whom she later divorced. She was active in the AIB and WBA banking organizations. Her hobbies included traveling, especially to warm places, photography, writing poetry and dancing. Preceding her in death besides her husband Mark Mattison were her two grandfathers. Surviving are her daughter, Tracy Nutzmann of New Richmond; her parents, James and Evonne Moore of Amery; a brother, Kelly (Jeanine) Moore of Deer Park; and a sister Wanda (Mark) Nelson of Prairie Farm. Funeral services were Saturday, Jan. 25, at 11 a.m. at East Immanuel Lutheran Church in rural Amery with Revs. Linda and Loren Schumacher officiating. Although he lived in Hudson briefly, he still considered Hudson his home.He attended school here from 1934 to 1939, when his family moved to Long Lake, Minn., during his junior year of high school. He still attended Hudson High School class reunions with the class of 1940. He was a retired grain trader at Archer Daniels Midland. Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Betty Lou; two sons, Dr. Michael Workman (and wife Dr. Carol Workman) and Mark Workman; grandchildren; stepsisters, Colleen Kelly, Margaret Kelly, Donna Ramsay and Renie Rider. A memorial service was Tuesday, Jan. 28, at Central Lutheran Church in Minneapolis. Burial was in Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
