She is survived by her husband Duane O.; children, Patricia Thornby, Kathleen (Keith) Sand, Duane J. Wright; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brother, William (JoAnn) Hennessy; sisters, Ilene (Haulis) Simon and Bernice (George) Albert. She is preceded in death by her parents, James and Marie Hennessy. Mary was born April 3, 1925 in Minneapolis, Minn. She was raised on a farm in Cylon Township, attended Oakland Country School and graduated from New Richmond High School in 1943. She attended River Falls College and received a bachelor of arts degree. Mary taught at several country schools, St. Mary’s School in New Richmond and New Richmond Elementary School for over 40 years. Mary married Duane O. Wright Sept. 3, 1949. They lived in Minneapolis for a short period of time and bought their home farm in 1951, where she resided for 52 years. Mary enjoyed camping, fishing, playing cards and baking. Visitation was from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, May 20 at Cullen Crea Hegstrom Funeral Home and one hour prior to service at the church. Mass of Christian Burial was at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 21 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in New Richmond, and burial was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Pat Donahue, John Schachtner, Dick Schachtner, Jeff Thornby, Brian Albert, and Dan Albert. He was born in Duluth, Minn., Sept. 20, 1944. He was the son of Donald E. and Florence (Dulinski) Antiel, who came to Hudson in 1950 when they purchased the Holland Dutch Bakery. Michael Antiel, with his wife and family, spent most of his adult life in California. He had served in the U.S. Navy and was in the trucking business. Preceding him in death were his first wife, Rita Wichelmann, in 1986; a brother, Jon M., in 1982; and a sister, Annette. Surviving are his wife, Leah, a son, Robert, two daughters, Kathy Jo Guerrero and Adrian, and three grandchildren, all of Pinole; his parents, Donald and Florence Antiel of River Falls; three brothers, Ronald (Marilyn) Antiel of Hudson, Alan (Pam) Antiel of Costair, Calif., and Dale Antiel of River Falls; and four sisters, Marjorie (Gary) Selleck of River Falls, Rita (Eric) Starr of Hudson, Connie Mae of Battleground, Wash., and Jean (Rich) Larson of River Falls. She was born Aug. 19, 1914, in Nekoma, N.D., the daughter of Robert and Jessie (Oakland) Chelleberg. She lived her entire life in the state of North Dakota. She graduated from Gilby High School in 1933, Mayville State Teacher's College in 1935 and the University of North Dakota in 1970. For 26 years she taught school, beginning her career in a county school house and retiring as principal in 1977 from Valley Middle School in Crystal, N.D. On March 23, 1939, in Park River, N.D., she was married to Willard A. "Bones" Odne, and they lived in Edinburg, Hopple and St. Thomas, all in North Dakota. Preceding her in death was her husband, who died in 1967. After retirement, she moved to Finley, N.D., where she lived 20 years, and most recently in Valley City. She taught many children to read during her lifetime and enjoyed making afghans and cross-stitched pictures for family and friends. She lived independently until her death. She was born in Hudson March 12, 1918, the daughter of Andrew and Gertrude "Gertie" (Christenson) Flattum. She attended kindergarten (with Norma Goldberg as teacher) in the old high school, corner of Fourth and Oak streets that was razed in 1924. She became a grade school student in the first classes to use the Fourth Street Elementary School, which is scheduled for demolition. She graduated from Hudson High School in 1936. After completing high school, she took a position with St. Croix County working in the office of Register of Deeds Gertrude Anderson (later Mrs. Philip Swasey). Later she took employment in the office of Erickson's Department store in downtown Hudson. On Aug. 20, 1949, at the First Presbyterian Church in Stillwater, she was married to Alton Alfred "Mac" McKenzie, a Hudson grocer. For many years, until 1974, she and her husband, Mac, and Helen's brother, Christ Flattum, and his wife, Alvina, owned and operated the Quality Food Market at 514 Second St. in downtown Hudson. The business had formerly been O'Connell's Grocery store, a landmark on main street. Surviving are two daughters, Mary H. (Thomas) Olkowski of Solana Beach, Calif., and Maeta L. (Mark) Gherty of Hudson; a stepdaughter, Juanice (Bennie) Newman of Aiken, S.C.; four grandchildren, Molly and Corbin Treacy and Collin and Megan Gherty; two step-grandchildren, Nancy (Wayne) Smith and Ben (Brenda) Newman; three great-grandchildren, Lesley (Keith) Griffin, Todd Smith and Lee Newman; and a sister, Mary R. He was born in Chicago Dec. 29, 1929, the son of Frank and Mary (Conley) Zastrow. After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in the 101st Airborne Division in Europe with the occupational forces after World War II. He was a member of the Otis K. King Post No. 50 of the American Legion of Hudson. After his honorable discharge from the military, he apprenticed and worked as a printer. On June 11, 1955, he was married to Anne May "Nan" Connolly at Our Lady of Grace Church in Chicago. He moved to Hudson with his family in 1966. At the same time he started his employment in the printing products division of Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing Company (3M) in St. Paul and continued until his retirement in 1995. Surviving are his wife, Nan; three daughters, Dorothy (Calvin) Hulburt of Taos, N.M., Barbara (Brian) Moelter of River Falls and Donna Marie Zastrow of Hudson; two sons, Donald (Amy) Zastrow of Madison and Patrick (Tiffany) Zastrow of Hudson; eight grandchildren Dominic Zappa, Katie Zappa, Jacci Zappa, Laura Moelter, Ian Zastrow, Gabe Zastrow and Connor Zastrow; and a sister, Dorothy (Charles) Pohl of Chicago. Olson, 79 Phyllis Carol Olson, 79, of Hudson died Tuesday, May 6, at the Christian Community Home in Hudson. She was born Dec. 7, 1923, in Minneapolis, the daughter of Sidney and Dorothy (Filiatreau) Swanson. She was educated in Minneapolis schools, graduating from Edison School, and then attended the University of Minnesota and the Minneapolis School of Business. On Feb. 28, 1942, at the First Baptist Church in Hudson, she was married to Norman M. Olson. She and her husband worked closely together when they owned and operated the Hennepin Finance Company in Minneapolis and later the Casanova Beverage Company in Hudson. An avid golfer and gardener, she also enjoyed playing bridge and received her master’s points. Surviving are her son, Charles Norman “Chuck” (Christine) Olson of Fridley, Minn., and two granddaughters, Kristin and Natalie. Preceding her in death was her husband, Norman M. Olson, in 1989. Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Friday, May 9, at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Hudson with Fr. John Rasmus officiating. At the service Jodell Krause was organist and accompanied vocalist Debbie O’Keefe. Burial was in Hillside Cemetery in Minneapolis. Visitation was from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 8, at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home in Hudson. Hogan, 43 Steven Henry Hogan, 43, of Hudson, formerly of Albert Lea, Minn., died Saturday, May 10, at his home after a 19-month battle with leukemia. He was born June 17, 1959, in Mason City, Iowa, the son of John “Jack” and Donna (Haberman) Hogan. He received his elementary schooling at St. Theodore School in Albert Lea before attending Southwest Junior High and graduating from Albert Lea High School in 1977. He attended Mankato Technical College in marketing. On Feb. 10, 1991, he married Carrie Hammerstad. He worked for Central Telephone in Fairmont, Minn., before being transferred by the company to Burnsville, Minn. Later he was employed by Olson-Thielen in Little Canada as CLEC consultant. He loved golfing and held memberships at Scottsdale Golf Course in Lakeville, Minn., and Keller Golf Course in White Bear Lake, Minn. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed traveling with his family. His most memorable trip was to Pebble Beach Golf Course. Surviving are his wife, Carrie; three children, Jessica, Reid and Ross; his parents, Jack and Donna Hogan of Albert Lea; two sisters, Sally (Jim) Hursh of Owatonna, Minn., and Sue (Randy) Oswald of Frost, Minn.; a brother, Scott (Diane) Hogan of Farmington, Minn.; his in-laws, Virgil and Connie Hammerstad of Hudson; a sister-in-law, Jodi (Tom) Johnson of Hudson. His grandparents precede him in death. A service was at 6 p.m. Wednesday, May 14, at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home in Hudson. Burial was in Willow River Cemetery in Hudson, where active casketbearers were Scott Hogan, John Hogan, Randy Oswald, Reece Oswald, James Hursh and Tom Johnson. His children, Jessica, Reid and Ross, were honorary casketbearers. Visitation was from 3 to 6 p.m. Wednesday prior to the service at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home. Wolf, Sr., 57 June 20, 1945 - April 27, 2003 James E. Wolf, Sr., formerly of New Richmond, died April 27, 2003 at the V. A. Medical Center in Minneapolis, Minn, after a battle with cancer. Jim was born June 20, 1945 at Holy Family Hospital in New Richmond. Jim graduated from the New Richmond High School in 1963. He then enlisted in the U. S. Navy in 1964. Jim found a love for cooking. He owned and ran many restaurants throughout his life. Jim also found comfort in helping people that were less fortunate. He was always a person you could go to if you needed help or even just to talk. Jim was preceded in death by his father, Clarence Wolf. Jim is survived by his son Jim (Holly) Wolf of Hudson; his daughter Tracy (Brian) Hennen of Shakopee, Minn.; brothers, Steve (Renee) Wolf of New Richmond, Gary (JoAnne) Wolf of Stillwater, Minn.; mother Marge Wolf of New Richmond and seven nieces and nephews. A memorial service was held May 2 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in New Richmond with Father Allan Bradley officiating. Burial of cremation remains occurred at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis, Minn. Deacon Hugh Mayor officiated. Craig was born March 5, 1963 in Rice Lake, the son of Larry and Linda (Johnson) Wiese. He received his elementary and high schooling in Rice Lake graduating in the class of 1981. On October 6, 1984, he was united in marriage to Lori Johnson at Bethany Lutheran Church in Rice Lake. This union was blessed with children Sara and Jon. In 1992 he and his family moved to Menomonie where he worked for AFG Glass. In 1999 he moved to Roberts where he worked for Johnson Controls in Hudson and currently worked for QC Inspection in Burnsville, Minn. Craig was a devoted faith member of Cross Lutheran Church in Roberts where he served as a church board member and prayer minister. He was an active member of the Roberts Lion’s Club and an avid fan of NASCAR racing. He was an outdoor enthusiast who enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping with his family. His love of outdoors brought him to appreciate the beauty of woodworking and carpentry. He will be best remembered as a friend to all. Craig leaves to celebrate his life, wife Lori; children Sara, 17, and Jon, 15; parents, Larry and Linda Wiese of Rice Lake; brothers, Brent Wiese of Rice Lake and children Travis and Becky, Cory (Tami) Wiese of Wausau and children Cody, Cole, and Colton; and in-laws, Gladys (Roger) Roux of Cumberland, and Fred (Debbie) Johnson of Wyoming, Minn. Craig is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Claude and Cathrine Johnson, and paternal grandmother Eunice Schlag. Celebration of life for Craig was 11 a.m. Thursday, May 8 at Cross Lutheran Church in Roberts. Pastor Dean Simpson officiated. Visitation was Wednesday from 5 - 8 p.m. in the Cross Lutheran Church in Roberts. Burial was in the Warren Cemetery of Roberts. Casketbearers were Travis Oraskovich, Dave Mulcahy, Robert Henson, Gary Burns, Tom Sullwold, and Paul Heimel. He was a World War II Veteran of the 11th Airborne and a member of the American Legion Post 507 and I.B.E.W. Local 2047. He was preceded in death by his wife, Florence; sisters, little Margie, Hazel Seim, Dorothy Carlson, and Ella Funke; and brothers, Robert and Willis. He is survived by children, Larry, John, Sally Parent, Bruce, RoxAnne Schlosser, Cynthia Babl, Nancy Hogoboom, Cheri Parent, Randall, and Gene; 22 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; brother, Ray; sisters, Gert Mielke and Myrtle Judkins; many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Mass of Christian Burial was at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 13 at St. Anne’s Catholic Church, Somerset. Visitation was from 5-8 p.m. at Simonet Funeral Home, Stillwater, Minn., and one hour prior to the service at church. Interment was in Lakeview Cemetery, Mahtomedi, Minn. Memorials are preferred to the Leukemia Society of America or the American Heart Association.
