After graduating from Monroe High School, she attended business college in Madison. For many years she was a tax preparer for H & R Block. She formerly worked at Commercial & Savings Bank in Monroe. She was a member of St. John United Church of Christ in Freeport. Mrs. Bahn was instrumental in organizing the gift shop at Provena St. Joseph Center. She volunteered in the dining room at Provena and helped with the flower gardens. She was fond of her dog, Princess. Survivors include her husband, Wayne Bahn of Freeport; her sister, Catherine ‘Kay’ (Robert) Peterson of New Richmond; half-sister Dorothy Haman of Carson City, Nev; and two half-brothers, Harry Haman of Oroville, Calif., and Herb Haman of Freeport. Preceding her in death were her parents and a half-brother, Roy Haman. Services were at 7 p.m. Friday at St. John United Church of Christ with the Rev. Donnley Dutcher officiating. She was born in Erik, Okla. on Sept. 20, 1915 to Theodore and Helena Jahneke. It was after her mother’s death that the family moved to Joliet, Ill. Her first marriage resulted in two sons, Thomas and Dennis. In 1948 she married Herman Bormet. They farmed in the Mokena area before moving to a farm near Emerald where Matilda lived until moving into a nursing home in 1995. The second marriage resulted in one son, Otto, and two daughters, Helena and Dorothy. Matilda is preceded in death by her parents, Theodore and Helena Jahneke; two brothers, Leonard Jahneke and Floyd Jahneke; three sisters, Laura Verpooten, Katherine Kent, and Lavena Gotschika. He loved tinkering with antique cars and tractors, listening to country music and deer hunting. Harlow will be rememberd for his big heart, his love of people, and his unconditional generosity. She was born on May 19, 1930 in Lake Crystal, Minn., the daughter of Evan and Mayme (McCartney) Hughs. Joan married John S. Helling, Jr. on Feb. 16, 1952 and the couple moved to New Richmond in 1960 to raise their three children. Joan was preceded in death by her parents, Evan and Mayme Hughes; her brothers, Merle (Colleen), Owen, and Raymond (Pearl). She is survived by her husband of 51 years, John; her son John III of Hudson; daughters, Jane (Henry) Cohn of Portland, Ore., Jilene (Jon) Bjork of St. Paul, Minn.; five grandchildren, Henry John Cohn, Carter Evan Cohn, Kelly Cohn, Jamie and Jenny Helling; one brother, Robert (Susan) Hughes of LaCrescent, Minn.; and many nieces and nephews. Joan worked for Maple Manor Nursing Home in various capacities. She retired from there after caring for the needs of the residents for 25 years. More recently, Joan assisted at Grace House in Somerset. She was a long time member of the First Lutheran Church in New Richmond and was actively involved in the Altar Guild, Hope Circle, and wherever she was needed. Joan will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, friend and humanitarian. Throughout her life she listened and gave support and encouragement to anyone in need. Joan will be deeply missed by her family and her many friends. Visitation was held Wednesday, July 23 at the First Lutheran Church. Funeral Services were Thursday, July 24 with Pastor Larry Jorstad officiating. Time of remembrance was given by Pastor Ralph Olson, pastor of King of Kings Church in Woodbury, Minn. He completed a semester of business classes at WITC-New Richmond before he entered the health care field in which he worked for Aurora Residential. He enrolled in and successfully completed the truck driving program at Chippewa Valley Technical Institute in Eau Claire, where he received his class “A” CDL license. After driving over-the-road this past winter and spring, he returned to the health care field with Heartview/Heartland, where he worked until the time of his death. After completing a semester of psychology at the Chippewa Valley Tech school this past spring, he was considering pursuing a career in that field. Craig enjoyed hunting, fishing, sports, drawing, music, and playing guitar. Craig is survived by his younger brother Kevin; two nieces, Kaylee and Megan; his paternal grandmother Elizabeth Johnson of Indiana; maternal grandmother Joyce Marine of Menomonie; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. She attended school in Clayton and was baptized in the Orthodox faith. On May 26, 1949 she was united in marriage to Richard Oman of Clear Lake. The couple made their living farming in rural Clayton, and were blessed with six children. Dorothy always worked hard on the farm. She was also very dedicated to her family and was always helping them in any way she could. On July 22, 2003 Dorothy passed away at the Holy Family Hospital in New Richmond after a long battle with leukemia. She was 78 years old, and was preceded in death by her parents; son Mark; brother Nicholas Peroff; and stepmother Marie Peroff. She will be deeply missed by her children, Mary (Dennis) Ambruso, Karla (Greg) Neva, John (Marge) Oman, Susan (Michael) Wendlandt, and Cheryl (Jamie) Pittman; sisters Delores (Frank) Zeller and Darelyne (Richard) Gustafson; grandchildren, Adam Ambruso, Andrew Oman, Paul Oman, Michele Carlson, Rick Neva, Carmen Wendlandt, Samuel Wendlandt, and Lauren Pittman, as well as many other loving relatives and friends. Butch graduated from New Richmond High School in 1968. He was a U. S. Navy Veteran (1969-1973) and worked for Fabri-Tek, DMA; Amery Computer Technologies. He lived in Deer Park for 25 years. He married Nancy Cole on May 31, 1975. He is preceded in death by his father Russell and grandparents. Donavan is survived by his wife Nancy; son Sean (Kimberly) of St. Paul; mother Mildred of New Richmond; sisters, Shirley Osterhaus (Roger Mullen) of Hudson; Ruth (Dick) VanKeuren of River Falls; one niece and four nephews; seven great nieces and nephews; in-laws Gladys and Wayne Cole of Amery; brother-in-law Jeff Cole of Star Prairie. Mass of Christian Burial is at 11 a.m. today (Thursday) July 31, at St. Anne’s Catholic Church, Somerset. Visitation was from 4-8 pm Wednesday at Cullen Funeral Home, New Richmond. Prayer service was at 7:30 p.m. Interment is private. Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers. She was born in Stanton Township Oct. 7, 1905 to Samuel “Ben” and Ella (Schumucher) Sette. Ema was the oldest of five children. She graduated from New Richmond High School, took a teacher’s training course and taught at the Wall Street School for three years. >From there Ema went on to the Bank of New Richmond, now S&C, where she stayed for 45 years. She began her career with the bank in the summer of 1926 as a general bookkeeper. She also served as teller and stenographer and after the death of Charles H. Sperbeck, assumed the position of cashier in 1952. Ema retired March 15, 1971. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by one infant brother, another brother Merton, sister Anita TeGrootenhuis and one niece Claire Harmon. Ema is survived by her brother Ralph (Doris) Sette of New Richmond, niece Barbara (Robert) Dempsey and nephew Gary Sette, both of Milwaukee. Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 23 at the United Methodist Church in New Richmond with Rev. Alan George officiating. Music was provided by Mary Barney. Casketbearers were Wayne Tubbs, James Gretz, Harlan Vehrs, Roger Vehrs, Allan Vehrs, and Richard Kruschke. Burial was in the New Richmond Cemetery.
