She was born Aug. 3, 1927, in Cumberland, the daughter of Felix A. and Mary (DeDominces) Zappa. She attended schools in Cumberland and later moved to Hudson. On Nov. 27, 1970, in Stillwater, she was married to Walter R. Johannsen. She worked for Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing Company in Cumberland, then for many years for the former Bertelsen Drug Store and later for the Toro Company, both in Hudson. She liked organizing many family gatherings and loved attending garage sales. She also enjoyed visiting the casino and if there was a bingo game nearby she would be there. She played cards with family and friends. Surviving are her husband, Walter Johannsen of Hudson; three brothers, Ben (Evelyn) Zappa of Flint, Mich., Herman (Betty) Zappa of Cumberland and Donald E. (Judy) Zappa of Hudson; and Tony (Joy) Ranallo, a foster brother of Cumberland; three sisters, Rose Lindfors of Cumberland, Caroline (Tom) Poukey of Onalaska and Jan (James) Peterson of Blaine, Minn. Preceding her in death were her parents and two sisters, Angie Cain and Frances Lombard. Mass of Christian Burial was at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 22, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Hudson, with Fr. Peter Szleszinski and Fr. James Dabruzzi, con-celebrating the Funeral Mass. Burial was in St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery where nieces and nephews served as pallbearers.
