Born in Peshtigo, March 31, 1911, she was the daughter of Peter and Ida (Olson) Gallinger. In 1928 she was the recipient of the prestigious Carnegie Medal for Life Saving. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a chemistry degree and worked as a chemist before marrying Marcus S. Murray in Marinette in April 1931. For more than 60 years she was a resident of Cameron in Barron County. She had multiple interests. She loved traveling, was fascinated by geology and was a member of a gem and mineral club, enjoyed bird watching and seniors activities. Preceding her in death were her husband, Marcus, in 1980 and five brothers and sisters. Surviving is her son, Alan (Lois) Murray, of Hudson. There were private funeral services with burial in Graceland Cemetery in Clintonville. Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association or the Barron County Officer on Aging. She was married twice, first to Robert Nadeau, who preceded her in death, and then to Leo G. Owings. She was a homemaker, a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Hudson and enjoyed spending time with her family and baking. Survivors are her husband, Leo G. Owings; her mother, Edna Hicks Conklin of Huguenot, N.Y.; three sons, Jeffrey Nadeau of Georgia, Alcid J. Nadeau of Eagan, Minn., and Lee Owings of Menomonie; six daughters, Annette Edburg of Baldwin, Diane Olver of Honesdale, Penn., Denise Hague of Spring Valley, Annie Olver of Pen Argyl, Penn., Karen and Bonnie Lynn Owings, both of Menomonie; two brothers, Kenneth (Judy) Conklin and David (Sherry) Conklin, both of Huguenot, N.Y.; three sisters, Barbara Diaz of Port Jervis, N.Y., Judy Groover of Sparrowbush, N.Y., and Patricia (Roy) Goddard of Monroe; 19 grandchildren and one great-grandson. Preceding her in death were her first husband, Robert Nadeau, and her father, Kenneth Conklin. The funeral service was at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 6, at Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home in Port Jervis, N.Y., with Bishop Tim Oustrich officiating. Burial was in the Rural Valley Cemetery in Cuddebackville, N.Y. A local memorial service will be at a later date to be announced. Ray, 77 Kathleen Phyllis Ray, 77, of Hudson died Thursday, Aug. 7, at Hudson Hospital, where she had been a patient for three days. She was born in Milwaukee Oct. 3, 1925, the daughter of LeRoy Chris and Anna Margaret (Pedersen) Petersen, and came to Hudson with her parents at an early age. She attended Hudson school and graduated from Hudson High School with the class of 1943. On Aug. 25, 1951, in Princeton, Minn., she was married to Darrell James Ray. She was employed by Minnesota Mining & Manufacturing Company in St. Paul prior to her marriage. Later, after her children were raised, she resumed work at 3M. In Hudson she was a member of the First Baptist Church and later became affiliated with the United Methodist Church. She served on several committees, was active in the Ladies Guild and taught Sunday School. She and her husband were active charter members of the Willow River Antique Car Club in Burkhardt and enjoyed traveling in the five-state area to attend various car shows and see old friends. After the death of her husband, Darrell, April 6, 1985, she sold their home and moved to WinterGreen apartments in Hudson, where she resided for 10 years. About four years ago, she left WinterGreen and entered Pine Ridge, a facility for assisted living, in Hudson. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post No. 2115 through the service of her husband as a World War II veteran. Besides her husband, Darrell, she was preceded in death by her parents. Surviving are two sons, Michael Ray of River Falls and James Ray of Hudson; a daughter, Nancy (James) Gonsioroski of Inver Grove Heights, Minn.; three sisters, Jean (Ronald) Schwartz of Faribault, Minn., Dorothy (George E.) Nelson and Audrey (Dean) Larson, both of Hudson; a brother, David L. (Jane) Petersen of Hudson; and six grandchildren, Michaela Ray, Samara Ray, Jordan Ray, Benjamin Gonsioroski, Zachary Gonsioroski and Elliott Gonsioroski. Funeral services were at 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 9, at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home in Hudson with Pastor Randy Fredrikson of the First Baptist Church officiating. Music was provided by vocalist Beth Ray and organist Ruth Ashwood. Burial was in Willow River Cemetery in Hudson, where casketbearers were nephews Bob Petersen, Jeff Nelson, David Nelson, Rick Schwartz, Bill Schwartz and Tim Schwartz. After her retirement she earned an associate and a bachelor’s degree from Columbia College in Denver, Colo. One of her greatest joys in life was the faithful companionship of her pet dogs, Sheena, Katie, Binker, Buzz and Fefe. Preceding her in death were her parents, and her husband, Dieter, in 1994. Surviving are a brother, David E. (Patricia) Kirkpatrick of Hudson; and four sisters, Rochelle M. Roth of Woodville, Sarah C. Butler of Boyceville, Sheila Rae Kirkpatrick of North Hudson and Pamela K. Baribeau of St. Paul. Kremer, 81 George Michael Kremer, 81, publisher of the River Falls Journal for 27 years, died Sunday, Aug. 10, at Westshire Village in the town of Westport near Madison. Kremer purchased the Journal in 1957 and served as editor and publisher until he sold the newspaper in 1984. Previously, he published the Osakis (Minn.) Review for seven years before moving to River Falls. He was active in civic and church affairs, including terms on the River Falls Hospital and United Hospital boards of directors, the River Falls School Board, the Chamber of Commerce, Industrial Development Board and St. Bridget’s building committee. He was a longtime member of St. Bridget Catholic Church, serving as an usher for 25 years and a member of the building committee. He was also a member of the Lions Club, Kiwanis, Rotary, American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Moose Lodge and Knights of Columbus. He was born April 1, 1922, in Eden Valley, Minn., the oldest child of Nicholas J. and Edwina (Froehle) Kremer, and grew up in Osakis, Minn. He graduated in 1940 from St. John’s University College Preparatory School in Collegeville, Minn., and that fall he entered the University of Minnesota. After enlisting in the Army in 1942 during World War II, he landed in Normandy, France, with Patton’s Third Army and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. After the war, he returned to the University of Minnesota, where he received his degree. On Nov. 23, 1950, he was married to Lorraine Holt. He is survived by his wife, Lorraine; nine children and their families: Ann (Larry) Phelps and their children, Matthew and Douglas of Pueblo, Colo.; Joan Kremer and her children, Joshua and Erin Bennett of River Falls; Mark Kremer of Red Wing; Paul (Debby) Kremer and their children, Zachary and Meredith of DeForest; David (Pat) Kremer and their children, Jason and Adam, Christopher Moelter and Shannon (Tommy) Starck of Chippewa Falls; Ruth (Randall) Pickering and their children, Richard, Rachel and Ryan of Fitchburg; Sara (Bill) Larsen and their children, Jill, Kimberly and Kelly of Waterford; Margaret (Steve) Brunn and their children, Kyle and Lora of Franklin; and Michael (Sheryl) Kremer and their children, Nicholas and Collin, Joseph Hallo and Tiffany Bell of Eau Claire; and a step-great-grandson; Also surviving are a brother, William (Joanna) of Wheaton, Minn.; two sisters, Rose (Lowell) Johnson of Albertville, Minn., and Helen (Pat) McLain of Osakis, Minn.; three sisters-in-law, Fran Kremer, Eloise Anderson and Shirly Holt and a brother-in-law, Marvin (Wanda) Holt. David A. Holt of Hudson is a cousin of Lorraine (Holt) Kremer, widow of George Kremer. One daughter, Kathleen, died at the age of 15 in 1977 in a swimming accident in California. Also preceding him in death were his parents; two small grandchildren, Christopher Larsen and Emily Kremer; and a brother, Robert. After selling his newspaper in 1984, he and his wife spent summers in River Falls and winter months in Mesa, Ariz. However, since 1998, they have lived at Westshire Village in the town of Westport, Wis., to be close to many of their children and grandchildren. Visitation was at the Ryan Funeral Home in Madison from 3-5 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 13. Funeral Mass will be at 3 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 14, at St. Bridget Catholic Church in River Falls. Visitation will be at the church starting at 1 p.m. Burial will be in the church cemetery. On April 6, 1948, Leona married Stanely Leslie Rudesill of Baldwin, and they had two sons, Bruce Duane and Randy Stuart. Stanley passed away Jan. 19, 1987. Then on May 20, 1994, Leona married Richard O. Aamodt of Minneapolis, Minn. Her leisure activities included crafts, crocheting, gardening, cooking and outdoor activities. He was preceded in death by his mother, Berengere; father, John; sisters, Doris and Claire; and brothers, Donald and Delore. He is survived by wife, Velma; daughters, Denise (Randy) Meyer, Carolyn (Scott) Counter; sons, Allan (Jelaine), Jerry, Eric, Stephen (Melanie), Brian (Cathie); sisters, Ella Marie Germain-CSJ, Mae (Tom) Mitchell, Rita Richards; brothers, Andrew, Urban (Pauline), Leo, Ralph (Diane); also 18 grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial was at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 6 at St. Anne’s Catholic Church, Somerset, with Father Jim Brinkman and Deacon Maurice Baillargeon officiating. Visitation was one and one half hours prior to the service at the church. Interment was in the church cemetery. Music was by Janelle Sutherland, Jeanne Germain, Cathie Germain, Sharisse Germain, Jerry Germain and Sharon Neuenfeldt. Pallbearers were Tim Germain, James Lawrence, Luke Germain, Adam Germain, Ted Germain and Scott Feiner. Christianson on June 27, 1942 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in New Richmond. After raising her family in New Richmond, she lived for many years in Beaverton, Ore. before moving to West Bend to be nearer her family. Rose is survived by four sons, Gary (Karen) of West Bend, David (Lynn) of Conyers, Ga., Thomas (Maryann) of Portage, and James (Marie) of Apple Valley, Minn.; 10 grandchildren: Mathew, Sarah, Jennifer, Emily, Jason, Jacquelyn, Jamie, Andrew and Kathyrn; as well as one great-grandchild Lucy, due to be born in November. She is further survived by cousins and other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Gordon on February 20, 1973; her parents; and her twin sisters, Mary and Margaret. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 7 at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church in West Bend with Rev. Jeffrey Haines presiding. Inurnment will be in Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, Ore. Visitation was from 10 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. Thursday, at the church. Masses or memorials to St. Frances Cabrini Church or Cedar Community are appreciated.
