Karen Deiss Kreye was born on Aug. 18, 1946, the daughter of Marvin and Elvera (Huppert) Deiss. She attended grade school at St. Mary’s at Big River near River Falls and went on to graduate from Prescott High School in l964 and immediately went to work for the St. Paul Companies. She was united in marriage to Kenneth Kreye on July 3, 1965 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church at Big River. At a later date she joined the work force at Niro in Hudson as receptionist where everyone appreciated her natural congeniality and her constant smile that inspired everyone. She had been at Niro for almost 16 years. Karen enjoyed people; she loved to play any card games and was a strong competitor while in a cribbage game. She was always ready to go dancing when Ken would say the word, especially when it was Old Time. She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Ken; brothers Tom (Deb) Deiss of Ellsworth, Dick (Sherry) Deiss of Hammond and many nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 3 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Hudson. Fr. Peter Szleszinski will con-celebrate the Funeral Mass with Fr. Gerald Harris of St. Bridget’s Catholic Church of River Falls. The organist Elsie Sandquist will accompany the Hope Choir. The casketbearers will be Karen’s Godchildren, Greg Bischel, Kandi Kiesler, Diane Alberado, Kevin Deiss, Heidie Kowalchyk, and Robin Cicchese. Burial will be in St. Bridget’s Cemetery, River Falls at 3 p.m. on Sat., Sept. 6. Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept 2 at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home in Hudson and one hour visitation prior to the mass at the church on Wednesday. Memorials are preferred. A Joseph Rudd b. ca 1821 and his 3 sisters: Eliza, Sarah & Emma came to the U.S. ca 1850. The girl's worked in Boston as Housemaids for a time and then they went West (San Francisco) & later Sierra Co. I believe all four were born in South Molton, Devonshire, Eng Joseph m. Mary Lovell first and his 2nd wife, I don't know. He had David, Sarah, Richard & Joseph b. ca 1859 who m. Anna Anderson & Elizabeth Swanson. Richard m. Susan Humphrey 23 June 1896, Cylon, Wisc. David m. Elizabeth Anderson & Rene Swanson.. I believe the Joseph of obit is the grandson of David & Rene Anderson. They had 11 children. Most of the info I have on Joseph's family and descendants came from Fern (Wilbur) Atwood of Enid, OK back in 1975 I would very much like to update my knowledge. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy when he was 17 years old, had boot camp training at Great Lakes, Ill., and served in Bainbridge Md., Key West, Fla., and overseas during his four years in the military. For many years he was employed by Metallurgical Inc. in Minneapolis and retired in March of this year. Briefly he worked at the Star-Observer in Hudson in the 1960s. Survivors are four sisters, Rita Lewis of Minneapolis, Doris Meyer of Bruce, Mary McCarthy of Rice Lake and Barbara Vermeira of Michigan; and four brothers, Thomas (Marlene) Pribble of Inver Grove Heights, Minn., Robert Pribble of California, Arnold Pribble of Emmett, Idaho, and Bernard Pribble of Blaine, Minn. Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 19, at the Rainville Brothers Chapel in Minneapolis with burial in Lakewood Cemetery in Minneapolis. Preceding her in death were her husband, Adolph, on Dec. 19, 1975, four sisters and two brothers.
