    1. Re: Josephine Wisniewski, Long Island, NY ca 1905
    2. I found this inquiry very intriguing but somewhat confusing. I am interested because I have Brach's and Winiewski's in my line. When you say that Jozefine Wisniewski is the sponsor to 2 WOZNIAK children, are you saying that she spnsored them here into the US when they immigrated or are you talking about being a sponsor for Baptism (Godparents)??? Are Port Washington and Elmhurst the names of Street on along Island or other cities in New York? I think you are talking about Jozefine being a godmother to the children. Did the baptism take place in New York? I have a Petronella Brach, born about 1845 aho marries a Wojiech (usually translated Albert or Adalbert) ZL/OTKOWSKI ( "L/" is a crossed "L", pronounces as a "W"). The document I have for him is from the marraige of his daughter Franciszka to Valentine WISNIEWSKI in 1887 in the Parish of Winnica, powiat Pul/tusk, Poland. It is about 25 miles north of Warsaw. Franciszka and 3 of her children immigrated in 1909 to follow her husband and her oldest som who immigrated in 1907 and 1906 respectively. It is very common for cousins and relatives to immigrate together, Do you have any immigration records or passenger arrivalk recoreds for these people. WISNIEWSKI is a name that is as common as Smith in Poland. BRACH, however is a rarer name aned as you can probably tell is most likely Prussian or German in origin. Debbie O.
