Posted on: WISNIEWSKI Queries Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/surnames/w/i/WISNIEWSKI/queries/10011 Surname: Wisniewski, Baranowski ------------------------- Hello Erna. I am new to this Wisniewski link and was just reading old postings. I have just started looking for my great grandmother, Mary Wisniewski. The few records I have show Mary's birth between 1881-1885 in Poland or Prussia. She married Frank Baranowski, also from Poland or Prussia. They eventually settled in Massachusettes where she died in 1953. Do you have anyone in your family tree that may match some of my information? I would appreciate any help you may be able to give me. Thank you, Laurie

No, I don't know where in Poland my gr-gr-grandmother was born, but I hope to find out during my research. I am currently awaiting information from a funeral home in Portland Oregon so that I can order her death certificate. Hopefully, that will eventually lead to her birth certificate. Maybe there is some connection between FRANCISCA WISNIEWSKI and MICHAELINA WISNIEWSKI. I will keep you posted on my findings, and if you find anything please let me know. Hope to hear more from you. Marcie

Posted on: WISNIEWSKI Queries Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/surnames/w/i/WISNIEWSKI/queries/5 Surname: WISNIEWSKI, NOVAK, NOWAK, NEUPERT, THOMAS, TOMASZEWSKI, JABLINSKI ------------------------- I am searching for information on my ancestors. My gr-great grandmother's name was KATHERINE (KATIE) NOVAK (NOWAK) BORN 2-7-1874 in POLAND to MARTIN NOVAK (NOWAK) and MICHAELINA WISNIEWSKI. KATHERINE married GEORGE NEUPERT and they lived in Portland Oregon. George and Katherine had at least tree children, Agnes, Vincent, and Evelyn. George and Katherine probably lived in Grand Rapids, Michigan for quite some time before moving to Oregon. Katherine passed away on 4-19-1946 in Portland Oregon. Agnes was born on 2-2-1892 in Grand Rapids, Michigan and married Joseph Victor Thomas (Thomaszewski) on 6-22-1907 in Boyne Falls Michigan. Joseph had at least four brothers, Walter, Anthony, Frank and Charles. Joseph and Agnes adopted a daughter, Lorraine, in Grand Rapids, Mi in January of 1919 (born 10-2-1918). Agnes passed away on 3-4-1956 in Boyne Falls Michigan and Joseph passed away on 2-2-1970 in Petoskey Michigan. Lorraine married Leo Jablinski on 5-11-1946 in Boyne Falls Michigan. They had three children Thomas, Theodore and Marcie. Leo had four sisters, Katherine, Lottie, Irene, Delores and five brother's John, Stanley, Andrew, George and Louis. Leo Passed away on 7-15-1957 in Petoskey Michigan and Lorraine passed away on 6-14-84 in Petoskey Michigan. Any information would be greatly appreciated; I also have other information that I am willing to share with anyone interested.
I found this inquiry very intriguing but somewhat confusing. I am interested because I have Brach's and Winiewski's in my line. When you say that Jozefine Wisniewski is the sponsor to 2 WOZNIAK children, are you saying that she spnsored them here into the US when they immigrated or are you talking about being a sponsor for Baptism (Godparents)??? Are Port Washington and Elmhurst the names of Street on along Island or other cities in New York? I think you are talking about Jozefine being a godmother to the children. Did the baptism take place in New York? I have a Petronella Brach, born about 1845 aho marries a Wojiech (usually translated Albert or Adalbert) ZL/OTKOWSKI ( "L/" is a crossed "L", pronounces as a "W"). The document I have for him is from the marraige of his daughter Franciszka to Valentine WISNIEWSKI in 1887 in the Parish of Winnica, powiat Pul/tusk, Poland. It is about 25 miles north of Warsaw. Franciszka and 3 of her children immigrated in 1909 to follow her husband and her oldest som who immigrated in 1907 and 1906 respectively. It is very common for cousins and relatives to immigrate together, Do you have any immigration records or passenger arrivalk recoreds for these people. WISNIEWSKI is a name that is as common as Smith in Poland. BRACH, however is a rarer name aned as you can probably tell is most likely Prussian or German in origin. Debbie O.

Posted on: WISNIEWSKI Queries Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/surnames/w/i/WISNIEWSKI/queries/3 Surname: Wisniewski, Woznick, Brach ------------------------- I have Josephine/Jozefine WISNIEWSKI (several spelling variations) listed as the sponsor to at least 2 children in my WOZNIAK/WOZNICK family around 1905-1908 in Long Island, NY, specifically in Port Washington and Elmhurst. She must have been Roman Catholic to be their godparents. I'd love to learn more about her. I have no additional info on her family...but am hoping knowledge of her may lead me to learn more on my own family tree of WOZNICK's. Her god children's parents were Albert WOZNICK and Maryanna BRACH. It seems likely that she was the sister to one of them, since she was the godmother of their first child, b. 1905 in Port Washington. Merritt Woznick ewoznick@aol.com
I have been trying to follow a "hunch" and I am having no luck... On my great-aunt's SS app it lists the father as Stephen Wisniewski, but on my grandmother's it lists Stephen Smith... I cannot find them before 1925 as Smith, but have found various spellings of Wisniewski from 1900 on.. Could there have been a name change and how would I find out?? Thanks
Hi, I am looking for information about Karl Ferdinand Wischnowsky/Wisniewski (the first is the spelling of the family here in New Zealand) who died in 1872. He was apparently an officer in the Prussian Army, family legend says he was a General but who knows. We know he married in Torun but we are having trouble getting records and good info. So any help gratefully accepted. Cathy Whiting GGG Daughter of Karl Ferdinand.
Does the Wisniewski family come from any Tartar (Mongol) origins? E-mail me back FirstKahn@AOL.com
Hi, I wrote yesterday and wanted to answer some of the questions I'm getting. First of all, PLEASE send your introduction and any info about your county or name TO THE LIST. I'm just administering the list and have no information for anyone :> You can find the list name in the TO: space above. Second, "to adopt a list" means to accept responsibility for the list, sub and unsub people who are having trouble doing it themselves, and building the list by talking on it and helping researchers to discuss their names and counties. You do NOT do any research for them. For the surnames lists, go here to adopt: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/sponsors.html and for the counties go here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/clusters/adoptcounty.html Please go here: http://www.rootsweb.com/rootsweb/wizards/ to see more about what administering a list means. I'm glad to help anyone but if you have research to share or discuss or questions about that, please send it directly to the list :> -- Clare Peden Midgley mailto:Clare@RootsWeb.com Allegheny Co, PA Genealogy: http://www.rootsweb.com/~paallegh/ For SUBSCRIBE info and MORE LISTS: http://communities.rootsweb.com/ FREE ###### FREE ###### FREE UNLIMITED WEB SPACE: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/acctform.cgi
I'm searching for information about my grandfather-in-law Wladyslaw (Walter) WISNIEWSKI. He married Mary Krawczyk in NY. He came from Gdynia and landed in Ellis Island (year and ship still unknown). If anyone has any information on him, his family, or his town, please e-mail me. thanks! Joanne
I am researching WISNIEWSKI from JELLEN, KREIS DIRSCHAU, WEST PREUSSEN, PRUSSIA. My grgrandfather was JOHANN WISNIEWSKI born January 19, 1825 in JELLEN; married ANNA KUROWSKA, November 27, 1855 and died March 8, 1876. Their dau. Franziska was my grandmother. Daughters Marianna, Rosalie, Angelika, Martha, and Franziska all went to BERLIN with their mother sometime after the death of their father. Son Julius Franz immigrated to South America, probably Brazil. Is anyone else researching this family as I have considerable more informtion on them, which I would be glad to furnish.
