She apparently was the only one of Abraham DeSmidts children who did not emigrate. The rest of the family came to the U.S. together, including a married daughter and her husband. I obtained a lot of information about the early DeSmidt ancestors from a Dutch website containing extracted civil registrtion records. (zeeuwsarchief.nl). The Sheboygan County Historical Society in Sheboygan Falls is a wealth of information on the area. They have many indexed records and pictures and the volunteers are very helpful. They even have pictures of Jennes DeSmidt and his wife Elizabeth! I did not have time to locate/contact any descendents, but was told there are many DeSmidts still living in the area.
