After the civil war the township was renamed Sherman Township. There is an area called "Sherman Center" which is about half way between Adell and Random Lake (a little to the west of a connecting line). This area was designated as Sherman Center back when the trains were first being planned for the area. The train station was eventually placed in Adell because the land around Sherman Center was to swampy. In 1855, St. John's Lutheran Church was established in what was later called Sherman Center. In 1857 this church joined the MO synod and has remained associated with the MO synod ever since. There is a school associated with this church that also opned in 1855. The school is celebrating its 148 year aniversary this year. Adell did not have a Lutheran Church until 1916 when Emmanuel Lutheran Church was established. The next closest Lutheran school was at St. Paul's Lutheran Church located in Random Lake. THis church was also established in 1855. So if your ancestors were Lutheran it is likely they attended school at St. John's in Sherman Center or St. Paul's in Random Lake.
