Zimmermann Martin L. Zimmermann, 56, of 1215 S. 13th St., died Saturday evening at St. Nicholas Hospital. Born June 22, 1899, in Sheboygan, a son of the late Traugott and Wilhelmina Zimmermann, he attended Bethlehem Lutheran School and was confirmed at Bethlehem Church with the Class of 1913. He entered the U.S. Navy on April 5, 1917, and served 22 months during World War I before being mustered out on Feb. 20, 1919. On June 12, 1920, he was marriedd to Miss Elsie Beirsdorf of Sheboygan. The couple made their home in Sheboygan since their marriage. Mr. Zimmermann was employed at the Armour Leather Co. for the past 23 years. He was an active member of Jensen-Van Thruler Chapter No. 15, Disabled American Veterans, serving two terms as commander, and also was a member of the Badger Recreation Club and the Bethlehem Men's Club. Survivors are his wife; a son, Jerome; one grandson, Dale; a sister, Mrs. Frank Johnson, and a brother, Arthur, all of Sheboygan. Five children and a brother preceded him in death. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church with the Rev. Carl W. Ladewig, pastor, officiating. Burial will be made in the family lot in Lutheran Cemetery. The body will lie in state at the Ramm Funeral Home from 7 o'clock this evening until 10 a.m. Wednesday, and at the church from 11 a.m. Wednesday until the hour of services. Members of the Jensen-Van Thruler Chapter of the DAV will hold memorial services at the funeral home at 8 p.m. Tuesday. Members of the auxiliary are invited to attend. A memorial fund, to be known as "the Martin Zimmermann fund for the New Bethlehem Lutheran School," is being established in his memory. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Funeral - Sheboygan (WI) Press, Thurs, Mar 15, 1956, p21 Martin L. Zimmermann Funeral services for Martin L. Zimmermann, 56, of 1215 South 13th St., who died Saturday, were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. The Rev. Carl W. Ladewig, pastor, officiated. Members of Jensen-Van Thruler Chapter No. 15, Disabled American Veterans, conducted military rites at the grave in Lutheran Cemetery. Soloist at the church service was Kenneth Lang who sang "What God Ordains" and "I Fall Asleep in Jesus." The organist was Wesley Broderius. Pallbearers were Fred Farchmin, Thomas Kiernan, Fred Laschinger, John Wibbens, Harold Fritsch and Carl Schmidt. The DAV conducted memorial services at the Ramm Funeral Home on Tuesday evening with Norman J. Leibham, commander, and A. Val Drews, chaplain, in charge. Gerald Lilyquist was in charge of the graveside services. Participating in the DAV rites were Del Friedericks and Fred Goedeke, color bearers, Al Wollenburg and Arthur Radtke, color guards; Henry Wiegand, commander, and Kasper Neumier, Victor Becker, Willard Lang, Peter Leys, Elroy Schnuelle and Cornelius Schinn, firing squad, and David Ehler, bugler.
