    3. Hi ya'll, I just couldn't resist.....my 2 cents worth. I'm researching the WAGNER and FISCHBACH families that came to Manitowoc County, but they also bordered Sheboygan County, and some of their records are located there. Some were destroyed in a church fire in Sheboygan County... making research difficult, however not impossible! I just had someone write to me (not a relative) about someone who did have the information I was seeking, and have since made contact with this person and will be receiving his book in the near future, containing all my long sought after connections! (At least 15 years of searching!) I started researching 35-36 years ago. Without the help of many many people, most of whom I've never met personally, I would have nothing to show for my efforts except a very small amount of data (by comparison) that I've gleaned out of court house records, microfilms of newspapers, trips to archives and historical societies, etc. When I started this project, there were no computers, no data bases, no Sheboygan County or any other county lists to look to. All we had were a few publications like "Genealogical Helper". An ad I placed there in 1986 or 87 still brings me snail-mail on my query, regularly! The internet, and it's volunteer system of free Genealogy is THE BEST thing I've seen! I've only been online a year, and let me say that things have changed drastically from the days when each of us had to travel for every little tidbit of information, hundreds of miles, and walk cemeteries, etc. (Its still fun tho!) Hats off to all the volunteers! Debie--You're the best! Patti
