Kristi, I am afraid you are way out of line on this. If you don't find the site useful, then don't visit it. Debie has worked very hard for a very long time despite the illness and death of her dear mother as well as her family tribulations. Through it all she has plugged away, honestly, I don't know how she does it. Visit the surrounding counties and compare. Sheboygan has 300% more data, at least, than the others. Debie's job is that of a coordinator. She coordinates information from contributors (you) and puts it on line. You can't possibly expect her to do all the work! I have found the site useful as I am sure hundreds of other's have. Additionally, you can count on Debie to help you out if you ever have a question. I am the coordinator of a county site in another state and I tell you, it is very difficult to get people to contribute in my county. I also believe that having a little bit of information on alot of subjects is better than complete info on one. You say that you don't mean to hurt anyone's feelings but if you wanted to come across as constructive criticism, then you could have worded your letter differently. Now you need to put your fingers where your mouth is and transcribe a complete file and send it to Debie so she can put it online. Sorry Debi but I feel that I have to post this to the list. If other people feel as Kristi does then they need to get on the ball as well. Please don't leave your post as I feel you are doing a terrific job! Most sincerely, Karen De Groote-Johnson
I guess I'll also have to put in my two cents. After doing Genealogy for close to six years, and all the sites, queries, obits, bio's, dead ends etc., the Sheboygan site is still above and beyond most everything out there. By the way, this also includes the Sheboygan County Historical Society in Sheboygan Falls. Online sites and local historical societies are only as successful and the people that V O L U N T E E R to spend hours and hours of their time that could be spent doing other things. For the love of family and ancestors, I would assume we are all in this. Yes, maybe all the information is not all there, as we would like to have it. But then, going through Ellis Island (right now a big pain), the LDS site, Ancestor.com etc. do not have all the information at the push of a button. Again, all mostly volunteers that could be doing other things like rolling in the grass with your grandchildren! Deb, you are doing a thankless job very well. Maybe Santa will slip somemore volunteers to help you in the old stocking this Christmas!
