In both cases, the 1880 census and the 1900 census, the data was probably not given to the census taker by Washington himself. In the first case, it was probably given by the head of household, in the second case, an administrator at the alms house. So the age might have been a guess at best. It look's like the the alms house later became the Fond du Lac County Hospital? The current cemetery listing for Fond du Lac county, shows a cemetery on the grounds of the county hospital. I'd guess if this was the location of the old alms house then perhaps W.W. Warner might be buried there. And I'd also guess that you might have some luck finding records. I checked the cemetery listing at the State Historical Society and it doesn't look like they've transcribed anything from that cemetery. You may want to put a query on the Ancestry.com Fond du Lac bb and find out if anyone knows anything about it there. It is sad that your ancestor might have ended up there. But it is an interesting story, showing how life back then could be very difficult. Good luck with your search! Peggy Hoffmann
