Hi Listers, I thought I would update you on the recent story of identity theft. I have received several letters both in agreement with the bill and also against it. The couple who were in agreement, only did so by trying to see things from the legislative point of view. Anyway on tonight's 10:00 news in Wisconsin, a story was told on the news of a massive Identity Theft and how it came about. This time it seems to have come from a bank employee who printed out personal information, etc. about people and was selling this information to a "friend" in Chicago. This person used this information to buy such things as very expensive cars, etc. The bank still hadn't told their customers this happened until the News media brought it to light. Then the Bank stated the reason they hadn't told their customers yet was because they didn't believe they were at fault for this happening and then hadn't figured out exactly how they were going to explain this to their customers. Right now they still have no idea how many people's personal information was sold or how many more people could be affected yet. Just another proof that closing off the vital indexes isn't going to stop this as it isn't an avenue the thieves use. Thought it was interesting and wanted to share, Debie Blindauer
