    1. [WISHEBOY] "National Cemetery Protection Act"
    2. Debie & Joe
    3. Hi Fellow Researchers, I have just read and signed this online petition: "National Cemetery Protection Act" hosted on the web by PetitionOnline.com, the free online petition service, at: http://www.petitiononline.com/sg0001/petition.html I personally agree with what this petition says, and I think you might agree, too. If you can spare a moment, please take a look, and consider signing yourself. Several years ago I was witnessed two headstones that had been removed from their base by vandals. This was at a local cemetery, what I witnessed really got to me as the caretaker of the cemetery proceeded to back his truck up and toss both stones into the back of the truck, breaking one of them. When I got a bit upset and asked why in the world he did that, why didn't he simply find the grave and place them back, I was told that the graves were old, the families don't care anymore and he simply didn't have the time. This kind of stuff we need to put a stop too. Major legislation is necessary NOW!!! If you have a minute, please take a look at the petition, Thanks for your time and have a wonderful holiday weekend, Debie

    3. Hi Fellow Listers, Ann Lamb had transcribed and donated wedding records for St. Patrick's Parish in Adell for the dates of 5/20/1878 to 10/12/1909. I know some of the names in these records I have seen some of you researching, so please go check it out. I have also added more wedding write-ups transcribed and donated by Jerry Head. The surnames are under the "What's New today" page and the wedding write-ups can be found under the Wedding Write-ups page. 3. My grgrandfather had a homestead in Sheboygan county and his name was Peter Mertes. While surfing the web, I found a wine website for "Peter Mertes Vineyards" in the Mosel Valley in Germany. After contacting them, I do not think there is any family connection I would like to locate some "Peter Mertes Wine" This wine is under the St. Gabriel label and produced and bottled by the Peter Mertes vineyard. Would anyone know of any wine cellar or liquor store that might sell St. Gabriel Wine. I have been in contact with a distributor of St. Gabriel wine but the stores he sells to are quite far. Thanks Mary Ann

    1. [WISHEBOY] Sorry Fellow Researchers
    2. Debie & Joe
    3. Hi All, Some have wrote and I have listened. I am sorry for suddenly filling your mailboxes when I had the queries and obits posted to Genconnect also sent to the mailing lists. Several of you have written asking for me to stop this from coming to their e-mail or removing them from this mailing list. Since I don't want to force anyone off of the mailing lists, I have stopped the queries and obits post to Genconnect from also being sent to the mailing lists. I do apologize for filling anyone's mailbox, it was a new feature available to the owners of mailing lists that also had Genconnect boards and I thought it might be helpful. It should stop as of now, again I am sorry for adding extra mail to your e-mail boxes. Hope you all have a great weekend, I am slowly getting back into adding information and will be posting to the two counties soon. I will of course let you all know when that happens, Happy Father's day to all of our dad researchers out there, I hope this is the best one yet for all of you, Debie

    1. [WISHEBOY] Ford-Mitchell
    2. Dick_Kay
    3. Hello to All, Recently, I received the following bit of info about the William Ford family. For years, I thought perhaps William was a figment of my imagination because all I had was a small mention of him in his brother Caleb's obituary. My ancestor, Benjamin Ford, who died before Caleb, has no mention of another brother named William. William FORD was born December 22, 1822, and came to Sheboygan County in 1846, locating at Winooski, where he kept a store. In 1847, he was married to Lucrecia MITCHELL. They had four children: Emma, Homer, Milton and Henry. Emma and Homer died in childhood. From the store they moved to a farm known as the Harvey CUMMINGS farm, later called the STEINKE farm, near Cascade. In 1865 they moved to Iowa, then to Missouri and in 1874 to Kansas, locating on a farm north of Hoisington. Milton did not marry until late in life. Henry had eight children: George, Nellie, Asa, Mary, Fred, Harry, Verna and Katie. William died in Kansas and his wife died April 28, 1905. Now, my question is, does any one on the Mitchell or Sheboygan Co., Mailing lists have ANY information on William FORD or his wife, Lucrecia MITCHELL. Thanks in advance, Kay R reitstuf@ticon.net

    1. [WISHEBOY] Looking for Lydia Flexer, George Mizer & Mary Shipe
    2. Kim Pollard
    3. I'm trying to help someone search for her family. She has almost given up because she hasn't be able to get anywhere in awhile. Here is some of the story. The mother was Mary SHIPE (maiden name) the daughter Lydia FLEXER married George MIZER she was born in Penn. and moved to Ohio. My source says she has a record of where they lived but CANNOT find it listed on the Census. It was as though they missed the house. Lydia was my sources' materal grandmother and my source is about 70-80 right now. Another part of the story. There was a FLEXER found in the Civil War and there was info found on his wife, but nothing on him. There was possibly a half brother but as of yet there is no proof. That is all of the story I have right now. If any of this sounds familiar I know my source would love to hear it. Kim Pollard Merick@cableone.net

    3. Hello, Debie and Listers--Does anyone have access to the 1855 WI state census for Sheboygan County? I'm looking for the details of the Carl MEYER family of Town Herman. Thanks for any help you can give. Great job with the Genweb Sheboygan pages, Debie! Bob Forrest (forrest@whidbey.com)

I am trying hard to get caught up on e-mail and this message was in my mailbox, so I thought the best way to spread the word of this find would be by using the mailing lists. If any of you can make a connection with these names and are interested, please e-mail "Lynda Bie" <bie@newnorth.net> she would be best able to help you. 3. Listers I have some sad news to report. My father Gerald Richard Palmer, Sr. passed this morning in his sleep.
