Hi Listers, I received this e-mail this morning and thought I would forward this to the mailing list since Calumet, Manitowoc and Sheboygan counties are hosted here. The Freepages server lost a disk last night and was shut down. It will be down for at least a day for repairs. Staff will try to keep you informed as to the progress. Stay Cool, Debie
Hello All, I'm was wondering if anyone out there knows or has any information on the Birth of a Nation Orchestra. A relative of mine was in it and they toured the nation and I was wondering if anyone could help. I tried a search, but I didn't come up with anything. Suggestions? Kim Pollard
Kim, My daughter who has a masters in music suggested that you look under music history. Some places that might be able to help you and at least direct you are: Eastman Conservatory of Music, Rochester, NY University of Indiana at Bloomington University of California at Los Angeles I don't know what the URL links for these are Good Luck Jeanne O'Reilly Kim wrote: > Hello All, > > I'm was wondering if anyone out there knows or has any information on > the Birth of a Nation Orchestra. Hi All, I just received some info that some of my family may have been in Sheboygan County at sometime. The surnames are LLOYD/ LOYD, and SNYDER. The info I have gives and address of 8336 May St. and places of employment Elkart Lake Furniture Co, Randolph Furniture Co., Randolph canning Co., and Randolph Wagon Co. If anyone has one of the same surnames, please let me know. Also, if anyone has a census page that includes the above address, would love to know who's listed there. I received this info from the Pullman Car Co. in Chicago. The mans name was Millard B Lloyd and he worked there briefly. This was from his work file. Since it's not an actual document this could be a false leed....hope it's not though. The age is to young to be the Millard Lloyd I was originally looking for, but it could very well be his son. Theres to many coincidences for him not to be someone from my tree. Am keeping my fingers crossed someone else here is researching these names. thanks, debs
Michael Wagner born March 11, 1829 in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg immigrated to America with his father, John Wagner, his sister, Regina; and his three brothers, Franz, John, & J. Mic. They sailed from Antwerp, Belgium on the ship "Tropic" and arrived in New York on October 10, 1854. The Wagner's settled in the Town of Centerville, Manitowoc County, Wisconsin. St. Wendel's has marriage records of some of the children of Michael Wagner, but I have been told that there was a Catholic Church in Sheboygan County, very near the county line where the family lived, that burned to the ground, and it may have contained the earlier records of this family. Does anyone know how I can learn anything on the early days of this Wagner family in Wisconsin? Please write Patti Laessig at anaquea@dwave.net
I am forwarding this to the group as I don't have this surname in my family tree. ----- Original Message ----- From: sam langmas To: akistner@fdldotnet.com Sent: Monday, June 04, 2001 8:04 PM Subject: surmanes Would like any info on Langmas. Hi Paula, I am not sure if the library has the yearbooks, but I do know that the Sheboygan County Historical Research Center has a great many years worth. I can't promise the 1920's, but you can always e-mail them and ask. Their e-mail address is: schrc@execpc.com. Happy Hunting, Debie
Hi List, does anyone know if there are any published year books from Sheboygan high school in the 1920's? If so, does anyone know where I can have a copy made of certain individuals? Thanks, Paula
I wanted to let all of you out there know that if you haven't tried looking for information at the research center in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. You should take a few days and check out what they have on hand. While I was on vacation/research/letting grandma see the kids, I took the trip to Sheboygan from Menasha (a little over an hour drive). A relative drove me around the area to take photos of the gravesites and houses where family used to live and then to the research center. I have to say I was very impressed at what they have on hand in their files. I could have spent a few days looking through their files. I was surprised to find a few photographs of family members in different areas. I found many obituaries that I didn't have and probably wouldn't have had the time to look for if they didn't have it indexed. Everyone there was really friendly and maybe a little too helpful. The one lady was so kind she kept finding things for me and I hadn't finished with the first batch she gave me. I didn't want to ask her to slow down, because I was so happy that we were finding SO much stuff!! Just one request. If you have been thinking about sending in your collection of treasures (obits., photos, other tid bits) send a copy into the research center if your not ready to part with it. I overheard several times the people saying that i"t wouldn't be possible if people didn't donate the information." If you think about it that's how a lot of places get their info. Kim Pollard Drew, Ms
I agree Kim. Each and every time I have used them (via snail mail), they have provided information beyond what I have asked for in the $15.00 fee. Their snail mail address is: The Sheboygan County Historical Research Center, Inc. Attn: Janice Hildebrand 518 Water Street Sheboygan Falls, WI 53085-1455 Ph: 1.920.467.4667 One of the my research families (Karl Schulte) has a donated family tree from 1730 in their files that us descendants donated. On the Sheboygan County Site, there is an eMail address but I do not have it at the moment. By the way Kim, Lyn in Winter Haven (FL) has found the dark brown mustard (Düsseldorf mfd. by Roundy's). Tastes pretty good on those Johnsonville-soaked in beer brats! Happy 4th everyone! Hi list, I just recieved some information on my family and am hoping someone can help me answer a question. First, I have found the address of where my husbands g.g.g grandparents lived in the City of Sheboygan. The address was 1426 S. 11th St. (as of 1908). I was hoping if someone could tell me if their home/building is still standing? I'd be very interested in having someone take photo of it for me if it still in existence. Also, does anyone know where I can purchase a map how the city looked in 1900? Thanks, Paula
Thank you Debie! Paula
Hi Paula, South Side Catholic is actually Holy Cross cemetery. Way back for a very short amount of time it was referred to as South Side Catholic, but it's Holy Cross. Hi! I am hoping that someone out there can help me answer a few questions. My first question, where is South Side Catholic Cemetary? I saw a listing for Northside Catholic Cemetary in the Shebogan Home page, nothing for South side! Second, does anyone know if there is census index for the year 1900? I am trying to locate the family of Theodore and Louisa Opgenorth from Sheboygan on the census. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Paula

Have you tried contacting someone at the Sheboygan County Historical Research Center in Sheboygan Falls? There is a base fee, I think $15.00. I have used them in the past and they seem to come up with things beyond what I ask for.
