I was excited to see your message as Adonijah Carter and Hannah Allen are my direct ancestors. I would love to know where you found this information. Also, do you have any information on their child Elmira "Myra" Carter who married James W. Russell on July 8, 1883, and died (probably in or as a result of childbirth) on or after September 21, 1890 in Sheldon Township, O'Brien County, Iowa. I can't find where Elmira is buried. Thank you very much! Please e-mail me at meredith9@aol.com.

I have had luck contacting local libraries that have microfilm copies of the local newspaper. They may look for you but you should try to get the exact death date from the Iowa Vital Records office. You can get a request form at this website http://www.vitalrec.com/ia.html Good luck Pete Schueler

Surnames: Magee Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/2FC.2ACI/1480 Message Board Post: My Great Uncle was placed with a "Swiss farming family" near Sheboygan in the 1938-1941 time frame. His mother had died in 1934, and "Russell", the youngest of her 11 children, proved to be the most difficult. Roy Russell "Russell" Magee was born 6 July 1928 in Adams County, WI. He was the 11th child of Charlotte Adela "Kit" (Cook) and Levi Alonzo "Lon" Magee. After Kit passed away, Lon wasn't willing or able to care for the 7 children he still had at home. The oldest one was my grandmother, who dropped out of school and moved to Chicago to be a housemaid. But back to Russell.....after his mother died, he and the 10th child were placed by the State in a home in Adams County. When word got back to family that the boys were living in the barn with the animals, and were being used as the farmhands the family could not afford at that time, relatives demanded that the boys be placed with them in Columbia County. After 3 years however, Russell's violent and unpredictable ways forced those relatives to seek help from the State in placing him elsewhere. He was then placed with the family in the Sheboygan area. All that one of the other children remembers (she was about 25 at that time) is that they had "a lot of light brown cows on their farm", and that it was a dairy farm. In 1945, the relatives that had tried to keep him with their family went to check on him. The farmers and Russell were gone. I am trying now to find where and who Russell ended up with. I have found that the family went to Muscatine County, IA (Near Rockton, IL). I know that Russell kept his name of Magee. I know that he died in May 1983 at the age of 57. The family that could not find him has passed on the "duty" of finding out what happened to Russell. Until I found him last week, we had no idea where he ended up. I solved part of the mystery for them. Has ANYONE come across a situation that might match this? PLEASE, contact me if you know anything.

Jane also had a son from a previous marriage, John Christopher Dieleman, who was born Dec. 4, 1853 in Axel, Zeeland. Jane's first husband was Daniel's cousin, Jan Dieleman. I would like to contact any descendants of these children. The entire family moved to Lincoln, Lancaster Co., NE about 1870. I do have the Dieleman genealogy back into Holland. My husband is a descendant of Kate Dieleman Hilblink. The Hilblinks were also from Holland and I have their genealogy.
Just received confirmation from the Civil War Pension papers that Margaret Wright, mother of Josiah and wife to Lott, died in Plymouth, WI. While the papers did not list a death date, at least I know that she did live in Plymouth and did not die in NY prior to their migration into Wisconsin. I am planning a trip to Plymouth and am hoping someone could give me the addresses of the cemeteries. Also which is the oldest cemetery? Margaret died between 1848 and 1850. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Linda Wright Cemeteries Maple Grove / Grant Union St. John the Baptist Catholic German Methodist Episcopal Woodlawn
