They came to Wisconsin in ca. 1862. The first person was Andreas DIECKVOSS, who settled with his two sons Christian and John (Johannes) in Wisconsin in 1862. Who can help me finding more information about this family? Another person, named DIECKVOSS, is Dorothy DIECKVOSS. She settled in 1861 in Waukesha. She was born in 1844 in Schwerin, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern/Germany and was married to Fred SCHROEDER. Fred died in 1921 in Pounds/Wisconsin - Dorothy died in 1888 in Waukesha. My grandfather was Jeremiah Patrick Clifford son of same name brother's name was Bob. Great Grand J.P.C. married a Margaret I believe. They lived and worked in Faithorn , Michigan south of Iron Mountain. There are many Cliffords in Norway, Mi. My Grandfather died of cancer in 1981-82 I think in Iron Mountain (could be Powers, Mi.) . My grandparents lived in Chicago for a time (grandma was a Sword from Faithorn) The Cliffords in Norway,Mi are related through J.P.'s brother Bob.

You can order these records from the Register of Deeds, Sheboygan County. There is a Jan Osterhaus born on Sept 25, 1860. I would check Lima, Shebogyan County first since there was an Albert Osterhause living there in 1865. Smith Richard J. Smith, 57, of 631 Riverview Drive, Plymouth, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, Nov. 3, 1999. He was born on July 29, 1942 in Sheboygan, a son of John and Jeanette Weber Smith. He attended St. John the Baptist Grade School and graduated from Plymouth High School in 1960. He attended Lakeland College. He married Patricia A. Marotz at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Plymouth on June 8, 1963. The couple resided in Sheboygan and Budd Lake, N.J. for 26 years before moving back to Plymouth in 1995. He was district sales manager on the east coast for Manitowoc Equipment Works. He retired in 1994 after 27 years of service. He was a member of the St. John Baptist Catholic Church and the National Wildlife Federation. He played softball for many years and enjoyed reading, hiking and spending time with his family. Survivors include his wife, Patricia; two daughters and a son-in-law, Karen T. Smith of East Norwalk, Conn. and Cheryl C. Smith and her husband, Emilio Velilla of Belmont, Mass.; his parents, John and Jeanette Smith; aunts, uncles, cousins other relatives and friends He was preceded in death by an infant brother, Joseph. A funeral Mass will be held on Sunday, Nov. 7, 1999 at 3 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Plymouth. The Rev. Dennis Van Beek will officiate. Grasse William O. Grasse, 83, of 909 Ontario Ave., died Friday, January 31, 1992, at Sunny Ridge, where he was a patient for the past two weeks, having previously been hospitalized at Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center. Mr. Grasse was born April 25, 1908, in Sheboygan, to the late Frederick and Louise Koch Grasse. He attended grade school and the Sheboygan Vocational School. On June 28, 1939, he married Miss Margaret Eversdyk, also of Sheboygan. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army. He was employed at the Wisconsin Public Service Company for 32 years and retired in 1968. 'Bill' was a member of Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer, was president of the Sheboygan County Baseball Oldtimers Association for 32 years, was inducted into the Sheboygan County Baseball Hall of Fame, was a member of the Milwaukee Oldtimers Baseball Association, a member of the American Legion Prescott Bayens Post No. 83, a member of the Mud Club and former member of the Hoaky Doaks Club and Kohler Skat Club. Survivors are his wife, Margaret; one daughter, Barbara Jean Grasse, of Milwaukee; one sister, Mrs. Louise Svoboda, of Sheboygan. One son and two brothers preceded him in death. Mr. Stuemke worked at Kohler Co. for 45 years, working in the foundry and generator divisions, until retiring in 1973. He was a member of the Kohler Quarter Century Club, St. John United Church of Christ, serving many years as a Sunday school teacher. Surviving are his wife, and one sister, Mrs. Clara Richter, of Rocky Knoll, and a niece, Patricia Stuemke, of Rocky Knoll, who was cared for by the Stuemke's since the death of her father. Mr. Stuemke was preceded in death by one brother. Funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Nickel-Lippert Funeral Home, with the Rev. Vernon Jaberg, pastor of St. John UCC, officiating. Entombment will be in Garden Terrace Mausoleum. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 9 p.m. Thursday, and until the time of service on Friday. A memorial fund has been established in Mr. Stuemke's name.

Schaap Jacob F. Schaap, 67, of Route 2, Sheboygan Falls, died early Friday night of an apparent heart attack after being admitted earlier in the day to St. Nicholas Hospital. He was born Oct. 29, 1912, in the Town of Greenbush, son of Christ and Minnie Van Sluys Schaap. He attend Rathburn Grade School. On Nov. 17, 1943, he was married to Marie Reiss in the Town of Greenbush. The couple farmed on the homestead for one year before moving to Sheboygan Falls, where he was employed by Sheboygan Falls Creamery. In 1959, he was employed by Bemis Manufacturing in Sheboygan Falls, and in that same year, the couple moved to the Town of Lima. Mrs. Schaap died April 5, 1972. Mr. Schaap retired in 1978. On June 30, 1975, he married Lenora Gartmann Senglaub in Carson City, Nev. He attended First Reformed Church in Sheboygan Falls. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Miss Nancy Schaap of Sheboygan Falls; a son, Ronald of the Town of Lima; two stepsons, Dale Senglaub, Town of Lima, and Glenn Senglaub, Sheboygan Falls; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Harko Veldman and Mrs. Gerald Hofschield, both of Plymouth; Mrs. Cyril Lauer of Sheboygan Falls and Mrs. Arthur Wimmler of Cascade; three brothers, Cornelius and Edward, both of Plymouth, and John of Sheboygan Falls; a grandchild and nine step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at First Reformed Church. The Rev. Henry Poppen, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Sheboygan Falls Cemetery. Friends may call at Wittkopp Funeral Home, Plymouth, from 3 p.m. Monday until 8:30 a.m. Tuesday and at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services.
