David died some where about the age of 30. Karen, from what I remember was in her early 40's. I was in the same class with David, and Karen was a year or two older. Tom and my husband were friends from their late teens to early 20's. Karen was just a lovely person. I did not know her well, but am thankful that I did get to know her. Karen had been married to someone - I do not remember the name, and he was very egotistical and nasty. A total opposite of Karen. Her first husband was a member of the Sheboygan Yacht Club in the late 60's and early 70's. With Karen being so sweet and nice we wondered how she got hooked up with this guy. Karen was married to Tom Pilgram and lived in the Black River Area of Sheboygan County at the time of her death. I believe Tom still lives in the Black River Area. He should be in the Sheboygan phone book.

Hi Listers, I need a small favor from someone. Does anyone have a subscription to Ancestry's 1900 Census images on-line? If so, would you be willing to do a search for me for Minnie Pfingsten. I know she was a Domestic Servant in the Wuestenhagen house in Sheboygan. All I need is the District and page, please. Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me, I will return the favor with a search at the R. of D. or library for you, Debie

Hi Listers, If anyone e-mailed me between 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 9th and 5:00 p.m. on Sunday May 12, and you haven't heard from me, please resend the e-mail. My internet provider had a major hardware crash which put receiving and sending e-mail out of service. We have been told our e-mail was being held and would be coming through once everything was back up and running. However, I have found from some friends that not all of the e-mail has come through, some is missing. So, to be on the safe side, if you did e-mail me and I have not replied, please resend the letter. I would rather end up with the possibility of two copies, then to seem like I am ignoring someone who wrote. I hope you all had a pleasant weekend and an even better week ahead, Debie Blindauer

He married Ursula SCHUSSER (?). She was born Abt. 1819 or 1824 in Austria, and according to church records (Holy Name RC Church) she died June 29, 1889 in Sheboygan. Franz, Ursula and all but one of their children emigrated from Bohemia in August of 1852, and settled in Sheboygan (I've tracked them in 1870 & 1880 census). Franz was a mason and plasterer by trade. He was living in Brookfield, MN with his daughter in the 1900 census, but from there the trail goes cold. They had the following children: ANNA GRAF, b. October 1841, Bohemia; married Joseph KEHOSS in 1863, settled in Brookfield Twp., Waukesha Co. d. Aft. 1900, WI. WENZEL JOSEPH GRAF (my gr-grandfather), b. August 10, 1843, Bohemia; d. October 1848, Frauenberg, Bohemia Married Michael DITSCHEID (Ditsheit?) in Sheboygan, 1868, lived in Milwaukee after marriage MARY GRAF, b. August 1853, Sheboygan, WI; Married Francis DORN, 1877, Sheboygan. d. Aft. 1941, Buffalo, MN. While I'm fortunate to have gotten this far, I would like to know: 1) Where is Ursula Graf buried? I looked the microfilm records for Holy Name but results were inconclusive. 2) Could Franz/Francis be buried next to her? 3) The 1880 census listed them as living on Eighth St. Would anyone have access to any directories from that period to get a more specific address? 4) Franz Graf was naturalized in 1871 (according to a naturalization index, in Sheboygan Circuit Court). Would anyone know where I might begin to search for declaration/first papers? Thanks in advance for any help/info/clues! Maureen Corley

Hi Listers, I want to make you all aware of another site I consider a scam site. This one is called Genlocator and I was made aware of this site by a fellow researcher who e-mailed in private. She wants everyone to know about this site, but wishes to remain anonymous, so I granted her wish. The name of the site is Genlocator and is located at Genlocator.com. I went to check it out and found that Genlocator is offering a free 6 day trial membership, so I tried it, all this service does and take the surname you entered and then transfer you to a free search engine. One of them they use is Alta Vista, a free search engine to use to begin with. So for the $36.00 {on line check} or $40.00 {check through the mail}, they will transfer your search to a free search engine. Remember is it sounds to good to be true, it almost has to be, If you have any questions, please feel free to e-mail, Debie Blindauer

Please beware and read the following, especially if you are new to researching on the internet. I don't want to see anyone being scammed. Debie Blindauer The following article is from Eastman's Online Genealogy Newsletter and is copyright 2002 by Richard W. Eastman. It is re-published here with the permission of the author. - An Old Genealogy Scam Reappears There is a Web site that sends out unsolicited e-mails offering to give you access to the world's largest genealogy database for only $44.95. At first, that might sound like a good deal. However, the e-mails don't mention the source of this "world's largest" genealogy database. It is the Internet and is free to everyone -- except for the gullible folks who fall for these e-mails. What the e-mails do not tell you is that your money only buys you access to a list of links. These links on the Web site present the other sites inside HTML frames, making it look like the other sites are a part of original site's "service." They do this without telling you that the contents are not created by them, but actually are the intellectual property of the originators. FamilyDiscovery.com was one source of these misleading e-mails. The site was in business for a year or so and gained notoriety within the genealogy community. Their Web site disappeared recently, apparently being shut down by the Internet service provider that hosted the online "service" after complaints by many users. However, a new Web site has recently appeared, operating a site that looks like FamilyDiscovery.com but under a different name. It appears that the owner of the new Web site is the same person who owned the earlier one. The new Web site is Genealogy- Developments.com. The new Web site proclaims that you can "Search Over 23 Billion Genealogy Records Right From This Website." That claim is absolutely correct. Of course, you can search the same 23 billion records without going to that Web site and without paying $44.95. If you read the fine print at http://www.genealogy- developments.com/faqs.html, you will note that it says, "We do not offer access to a database of records but we do offer the ability to search billions of online records spanned across the Internet." The reality is that you can find all those links, and more, elsewhere on the Web. I suspect that most of them are available on Cyndi's List at http://www.cyndislist.com. Of course, Cyndi's List is free of charge. There are a couple of "watchdog sites" that watch for Web sites like FamilyDiscovery.com and Genealogy-Developments.com. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/2FC.2ACI/1581.1.2 Message Board Post: Hi, Minnie Marie Magdelena Lemke, b. 15 Nov 1890 in Nicollet Co., MN to Gustav Friedrich LEMKE & his wife, Wilhelmina Sophia ENGEL. Gustav was born Martin Friedrich LEMKE 10 Apr 1860 in Ortwig, Kr. Lebus, Brandenburg, Germany to Martin LEMKE, b. Oct 1791 Germany & his wife, Caroline Wilhelmina RAASCH b. 7 July 1829 in Ortwig, Kr. Lebus, Brandenburg, Germany. The interesting story is that Gustav came to the USA [arr Nov 13, 1882 on the SS Weisland] to look for his older brother (name unknown). In researching the Evang. Church records from Ortwig, Germany, Gustav did not have an older brother. His father was married previous to his marriage to Carolina Wilhelmina, and we assume that he had children in that marriage. So Gustav had to have been searching for his half brother [prob born between 1811 - 1850]. The story goes that Gustav went first to near Antigo, WI where his brother was last heard from (cutting wood) but his brother had already moved on. Gustav went on to the New Ulm, Brown Co., MN area where he met and married his wife (1888). They farmed in various locations in MN, and finally settled on a farm just South of Fargo, Cass Co., ND in 1905. Gustav d. 1910 [a month before his last child was born]. His newspaper obit says they were waiting to hear from "relatives" before finalizing funeral arrangements, but the family does not believe he ever found his brother. Gustav's sons said that their Dad persued at least two other Lemke families (Senator Lemke from ND & the Lemke family near Sabin, MN) but they had determined that they were not related to each other. I always figured that I would, some day, find the brother ... as we knew who was Gustav's Mother (she came over in 1888 and is buried next to her son), but of course, the HALF brother throws a real wrinkle in that plan. So now I am searching for a LEMKE whose father was a Martin LEMKE from Ortwig, Germany. As LEMKE is a fairly common name in Germany, it is not an easy task, but I keep hoping. Because of this, I have gathered a lot of info on various LEMKE families. I have posted a lot of it on my LEMKE list on yahoo. Have you checked there? Or let me know what you know about your line and I will check what I have. Gustav is my GrGrandfather. Sharon
