She was born June 22, 1926 in the town of Harrison, Marathon County, the daughter of the late Jess and Margaret (Wood) Thorne. On September 16, 1950 Jean was united in marriage to Donald Kautza in Antigo. He survives. In addition to her husband, survivors include two sons, Donald Kautza, Jr. and Tony (Diane) Kautza, all of Aniwa; two daughters, Michele (Kenneth) Mach, Antigo and Peggy Kautza, Schofield; four grandchildren; three brothers, Richard (Evelyn) Thorne, Antigo, Donald (Janet) Thorne, Ogdensburg and Roy (Phyllis) Thorne, Wausau; three sisters, Evelyn Damitz, Antigo, Marjorie Mortenson and June Schneck, both of Wausau. In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by one brother and one sister. Funeral services were held May 26, 1992 at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Aniwa. The Rev. Donald Laux officiated.
