Hable, age 71, formerly of Antigo, died Friday, April 22, 2005 at the Homme Home of Wittenberg under the care of LeRoyer Hospice. She was born on January 25, 1934 in Phlox, the daughter of the late Andrew and Appolonia (VanBoxtel) DeBroux. She graduated from St. Joseph grade school in Phlox. On April 21, 1953, she was united in marriage to Frank Hable in Phlox. The couple later divorced. Joan had worked for Weinbrenner Factory Shoe, Antigo for a short time. After retiring from the family farm she was employed at the former B&B Café, Birnamwood and the Homme Youth and Family Programs, Wittenberg. She was then a foster grandmother for the Antigo School District. Joan was a member of St. Johns Catholic Church, Antigo and the Christian Mothers Society. She was an avid reader and enjoyed listening to music and playing the piano and drums. She also enjoyed cooking, Bingo and playing cards, often using her famous quote ?I paid!? Joan also had her ?Masters Degree? as a ?Domestic Engineer?. Joan is survived by her children; Theresa (Roy) Spranger, Elizabeth (Bernard) Bowman and Edward Hable, all of Hatley, Daniel Hable, Antigo, Frank Hable, Robert Hable and Mary (Paul) Sippl, all of Birnamwood, Kathleen (Randy) Wolinski, Antigo, Lori (Duane) Ostrowski, Galloway and Lisa (Duane) Zywicki, Weston; 24 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; six brothers, Adrian (Shirley) DeBroux, Merrill, Gilbert DeBroux, Wausau, Vic (Ruth) DeBroux, Deerfield, Jerry (Barbara) DeBroux, Menomonee Falls, Billy (Sharon) DeBroux, Shawano, Dan (Theresa) DeBroux, Phlox, and five sisters, Lucille (Alvin) Housey, Two Harbors, MN, Margie Servi, Antigo, Dolores Galica, Wausau, Florence (Bob) Bures, Deerbrook and Rosella (Tom) Waldvogel, Aniwa. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Catherine Anne, one grandson, Brian Bernard Bowman, one brother, Alphonse and five sisters, Catherine, Mary, Loraine, Dorothy and Evelyn. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10AM on Tuesday, April 26, 2005 at St. Johns Catholic Church, Antigo. Fr. Charles Hoffman will officiate. Interment will be in St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery, Aniwa. Friends may call from 4PM to 8PM on Monday and again on Tuesday from 9AM until the time of services all at the church. There will be a Parish Wake Service at 7:30PM Monday evening at the church. Schmidt-Schulta Funeral Home, Birnamwood is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
