He was born July 23, 1874 in Austria, the son of the late Frank and Mary (Stadler) Lex. On October 25, 1897 John was united in marriage to Barbara Kerschbaum in Aniwa. She survives. In addition to his wife, survivors include five daughters, Clara (Carl) Ebert, North Brook, IL, Bertha (Charles) Denton, Rhinelander, Theresa (David) O'Keefe, Green Bay, Barbara (John) Knudson and Rosella (Elmer) Suess, all of Rhinelander; four sons, Louis (Edna) Lex, John (Elizabeth) Lex, both town of Aniwa, William Lex, Rhinelander and Edward Lex, Milwaukee; 35 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held June 13, 1960 at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Aniwa. The Rev. Leo Schmitt officiated. Interment was in the parish cemetery.
