The daughter of the late John and Mary (Wasielewski) Banaszynski was born May 6, 1923, in the town of Angelica. On July 24, 1941, she married Anton Homel at Assumption B.V. M. Church in Pulaski. Dorothy had been a member of the Rosary Society at the parish. She liked dancing and going on bus tours around the country, and always enjoyed playing games and cards with family and friends. She also enjoyed cooking for her family, crocheting and reading. Dorothy cared deeply for her family. Despite having health problems most of her life, she was a very dedicated and loving wife and mother. Her family's well-being was a top priority in her life. In addition to her husband, Anton, she is survived by five children, Dennis (Nancy) Homel, St. Paul, Minn.; Norma (Doug) Nelson, Suamico; Nancy (LeRoy "Corky") Gutzman, Pulaski; Jerry (Susan Ellis) Homel, Suamico; and Russ (Mary) Homel, Pulaski; nine grandchildren, David Homel, Jamie (John) Englebert, Chad Nelson, Kelly (Todd) Kelsey, Troy (Kathy) Gutzman, Mark (Tara) Homel, Kevin (Denise) Homel, Melissa (special friend, Tim) Homel and Tracy (special friend, Matt) Homel; three stepgrandchildren, John, Cathy and Jean; 11 great-grandchildren, nine stepgreat-grandchildren; one brother, Ervin Banaszynski, Pulaski; one sister-in-law, Josephine Gregozeski, Green Bay; nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by seven brothers, Anton, Frank, Edward, Joseph, Adolph, Roman and Casey Banaszynski; and five sisters, Frances Kozlowski, Nettie Wielgus, Celia Baranczyk, Clara Jeziorski and Martha Banaszynski. Friends may call at Marnocha Funeral Home, Pulaski, from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday with a Closing Prayer Service at 7:30 p.m. The visitation continues at 9 a.m. Tuesday at Assumption B.V.M. Church, Pulaski. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church, Fr. Patrick Gawrylewski, O.F.M. presiding, with burial in the parish cemetery.
