Rose Phyllis J. Rose, died Thursday, April 8, 2004, in her residence in rural Hopkinton. Services: 11 a.m. Monday, First United Church, Hopkinton. The Rev. Marti Montovani will officiate. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Goettsch Funeral Home, Hopkinton. Burial: Hopkinton Cemetery. Condolences may be left at www.goettschonline.com Phyllis Safford was the daughter of Charles and Erna Ebert Safford. She attended school in the Gresham, Wis., area. On May 31, 1960, she married Daniel Rose in Missouri. Phyllis and Dan farmed in the Hopkinton area most of their married life. Phyllis was mom to many area children. Phyllis loved children and babies and baby-sat for many years. She was also an avid mushroom hunter. She is survived by her husband, Dan; three daughters, Carol (John Max) Beitz of Hopkinton, Linda (Bob) Joy of Marion and Jeane (Dale) Schafer of Anamosa; three sons, Bob (Linda) of Anamosa, Jim (Michelle) of Cedar Rapids and Tom (Ginny) of Hopkinton; an adopted son, Darwin Mesch of Earlville; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Roger (Ester) Safford of Shawano, Wis. She was preceded in death by her parents.
