Carl A. Wudtke, age 87, of N6624 Hwy 47-55, town of Wescott, Shawano, passed away on Saturday, April 1, 2000 at the Heartland Health Care Center of Shawano. He was born on Sept. 11, 1912 in Gresham, son of the late Charles and Anna (Schroeder) Wudtke. On June 18, 1937 he was united in marriage to the former Isla Strauss at St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Bonduel. Mr. Wudtke graduated from Linotype School in Chicago and was employed for over 40 years at the Shawano Leader. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed playing dartball. He was a member of the St. James Lutheran Church of Shawano where he served for many years as an usher and was a member of the Men's Club. Survivors include his wife, Isla Wudtke, town of Wescott, Shawano children, Martha Van Rooy, Appleton Karl (Hope) Wudtke, Richmond, Texas and Shawano grandchildren, Timothy (Tricia)Van Rooy, Appleton Brian Van Rooy, Mesa, Ariz. Matthew (Stacey) Wudtke, Sheridan, Wyo. Misti Wudtke and Hanni Wudtke, Shawano one great-grandchild, Mason Van Rooy three nieces, Janine (John) Gosnell, Thiensville Mary (William) Weltin, Waukesha Elaine (Robert) Pederson, Shawano sister-in-law, Margaret Wudtke, Milwaukee. He was also preceded in death by two brothers and one sister. Funeral Services Wednesday, April 5, 2000 at 12 noon at St. James Lutheran Church of Shawano. Pastor Michael Schram officiating. Interment at the Woodlawn Cemetery of Shawano. Friends may call after 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church until time of services. A memorial fund has been established in his memory.
