Born Sept. 24, 1929, he was a son of the late C. Joseph and Florence Garska. He was also preceded in death by his son, Kenneth Joseph Garska Jr. He was a retired research scientist with Union Carbide Corporation with 35 years of experience and was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, St. Albans, where he was involved with the Knights of Columbus and the Catholic War veterans. He was a former Boy Scout leader. Surviving are: his wife, Helen Mary Garska; his daughters and sons-in-law, Joan Mary and Michael Potter of Chapel Hill, N.C., Margaret Louise and Robert Johnson Jr. of Hollywood, Md., Susan Ann and Phillip Johnson of Nitro; sons and daughters-in-law, Michael Jerome Garska of Sandersville, Ga., Daniel Christopher and Sara Campbell Garska of Lake Jackson, Texas, Patrick Gerard and Tina Simpson Garska of Jane Lew, Mary Beasley Garska of Charlottesville, Va.; sisters, Phyllis Tinsman and Mary Jo Brunner, both of Shawano, Wis., Delores Zahringer of Gresham, Wis.; grandchildren, Michael Quinn and Daniel Kenneth Potter, Kenneth Joseph Garska III and Jessica Garska, Stacey Elizabeth, Kathleen Amanda and Daniel Christopher Garska Jr. and Sean Heater. Mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 11, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, St. Albans, with Father Patrick M. McDonough as celebrant. Entombment will be in Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Bartlett-Chapman Funeral Home, 409 Sixth Ave., St. Albans, where a Christian prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Online condolences may be made at www.bartlettchapmanfuneralhome.com.
