'Gib' Glaeser Gilbert J. 'Gib' Glaeser Gilbert J. "Gib" Glaeser age 74 of Oshkosh passed away peacefully Wednesday morning July 2, 2008 after a courageous battle with cancer at Bethel Home. Gib was born in Oshkosh the son of Edward and Helen (Mathe) Glaeser. Gib married Marlene Roller on October 17, 1959. Gib served his Country in the U.S. Navy from 1953-1957 during the Korean War. He was aboard the Sage AM III as a damage control man-Petty Officer. Gib was an alter boy for four years at St. Vincent Catholic Church in Oshkosh, he was a member of Ohio Street Civic Association, Volunteered at Sacred Heart Picnics and also at Bethel Home. Gib was a faithful member of St. Jude Parish (Sacred Heart Church). Gib was a Journeyman Cabinetmaker for Robert Brand and Sons, Valley Manufacturing, which later became Valco until his retirement. Gib enjoyed trout fishing, gardening, dartball and watching the Packers. Gib is survived by his wife Marlene of Oshkosh, one daughter Paula (David) Wilkum of Oshkosh, two brothers Ronald (Delores) Glaeser of Gresham, WI and brother Thomas (Beverly) Glaeser of Oshkosh. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and step-father Conrad Paffenroth. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, July 7, 2008 at Poklasny Funeral Home in Oshkosh at 1 p.m. Father Tom Reynebeau will officiate. Visitation will be held on Monday at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until the time of service 1 p.m. Committal services will be held at Lake View Memorial Park. In Lieu of flowers a memorial fund will be established in Gib's name. Gib's family would like to thank Aurora medical center, Aurora Hospice and staff at Bethel Home especially Ginger and also the Oshkosh Fire dept. for their compassionate care of Gib.
