Charles was born April 20, 1919, in Bowler, Wis., to the late Tom and Julia (Cornelius) McCarrell. He served in the U.S. Navy toward the end of World War II. He married the former Amber Lindsley on Mar. 15, 1973. Prior to his retirement, he worked at Gateway Transportation. Charles loved playing baseball, bowling, was a little league coach and loved to watch the Packers. He was well loved and will be fondly remembered by his family and friends. Charles was preceded in death by his sister, Clarabelle; his first wife, LaVerne (Van Rixel) McCarrell; two sons, Patrick and Teddy; and a grandson, Chris Konitzer. Survivors include his wife, Amber with whom he shared 26 loving and happy years; two sisters, Leone House and Pearl House, Oneida; one brother, Theodore McCarrell, Oak Creek; one daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Maynard Konitzer, Green Bay; four sons and daughters-in-law, Chuck and Lynn McCarrell, Oneida; Tom and Kim McCarrell, Green Bay; Terry McCarrell and friend, Robin, Green Bay; Tim and Ann McCarrell, Green Bay; a stepdaughter, Susan Knaus, Green Bay; 16 grandchildren; many cherished great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and very special friends, Mary and the late Earl Poquette. Friends may call at Ryan Funeral Home, 305 N. Tenth St., De Pere, on Sunday from 3 to 7 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at the funeral home at 7 p.m. Sunday with Fr. George Lenzner officiating. V.F.W. Service will follow. he family extends special appreciation to the entire staff at Anna John Nursing home for their loving care and support.
