He was 90 years old. He was born May 26, 1917, the son of the late Ole and Marie (Johnson) Tveten. On June 13, 1942, he married Vera (Remington) at the Congregational Church in Antigo. Rev. Samuel Gutensohn performed the ceremony. Mr. Tveten graduated from Elcho High School in 1938. He served in the Army in the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre of World War II. During his four years of military service, he worked as a cook in the 13th General Hospital. He later belonged to the VFW, American Legion, and 40 and 8. Mr. Tveten was employed as a custodian at the Antigo Junior High School. He had also worked for Chicago and Northwestern Railroad, and Four Wheel Drive in Clintonville. He was a member of Faith United Church of Christ, and served as deacon, usher, trustee, custodian and member of Men's Brotherhood. He spent many hours volunteering at the food pantry, ! which held a special place in his heart. Mr. Tveten's interests include cutting wood with a Swede saw, picking raspberries and strawberries, hunting, fishing and camping. He became an "honorary" Knights of Columbus member after helping to build the Antigo KC Hall. At hunting camp, he was always the camp cook. In addition to his wife, Vera (Remington), he is survived by three daughters, Cathy (Russel) Volz, New London Linda (Jim) Bruss, Pickerell and Susan (Ronald) Moseman, Aniwa two sons, Tim (Ruth), Antigo and Tom, Antigo three sisters, Ruth Mikolajak, Frances Howe, and Elaine Reynolds, all of Elcho one brother, Dean, Somerset one sister-in-law, Jeanette Tveten, Fish Creek ten grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Neal three brothers, Walter Gordon and Charles and one grandson, Jason Liederbach. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 2 at 10:30 a.m. at Faith United Church of Christ in Antigo. Rev. Audrey Alexander will officiate. Visitation will take place Tuesday, April 1 from 3 to 7 p.m. at Strasser-Roller Funeral Home in Antigo. A second visitation will be Wednesday from 9:30 until the time of services at church.
