Born Oct. 4, 1953, in Rockford, Ill., the son of John and Margaret Shain Sterner. David was a 1970 graduate of Harlem High School, Machesney Park, Ill. He married Cheryl Ronan on Feb. 14, 2003, in Janesville. David was employed by Taylor Freezer Co. in Rockton, Ill. He enjoyed life as an avid fisherman and camping with his family and friends. One of his many passions was raising and caring for his exotic parrots. Survivors include wife, Cheryl Sterner of Beloit; children, David (Kimberly) Sterner, Jill (Justin) Dilley and Diedra (Doug) Ridgon, all of Azel, Texas; grandchildren, Samantha Sterner, Harley Sterner, Jamie and Jenna Sterner and Hope Ridgon; father, John Sterner of Rockford; sisters, Karen (Dave) Moate of San Antonio, Peggy Deiter of Loves Park, Ill., Karla (Dana) Williams of South Beloit, Ill., and Nancy Sterner of Tigerton;! and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by mother, Margaret Sterner on Nov. 10, 2003; and several aunts and uncles. Memorial service at 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 20, in Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home and Crematorium, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, with visitation from 5 p.m. to time of service; Pastor David Meding will officiate.
