Jr. was born on Jan. 23, 1930, in Peoria, Ill., the son of Alfred and Rose Hanson. Having retired as a Lt. Colonel in the U.S. Air Force, he served in active duty in the Korean War and continued his service with the 176th Fighter Interceptor Squadron at Traux Field. After receiving a JD from the University of Wisconsin Law School in 1973, he was a named partner at Arthur, Hanson, Miller, and Harms in Madison. Having retired and moved to Gresham, Dan got antsy and became the Corporate Counselor of Shawano County, from 1987 to 1990. After retiring for a second time, Dan moved to Sun City, Ariz., where he devoted time to his church. He is survived by his wife, Alverta of Sun City, Ariz.; his ex-wife, Ruth, of Madison; four children, Peter, of Wilmette, Ill.; Tom, of Broomfield, Col.; Lisa, of Estes Park, Col.; and Linda Garrow, of Long Beach, Calif.; and eight grandchildren. Dan was recently diagnosed with lung and esophagus ! cancer and had successfully undergone lung cancer removal surgery. He died of a heart attack on July 14, 2005, at age 75.
