Nowak Sr., 74 went to be with the Lord, June 14, 2009. He was born to John and Hilda (Hanson) Nowak on July 6, 1934, in Angelica. He graduated from Oconto Falls High School in May of 1952 and joined the Navy in June of 1952. He was a submariner until May 1955. He went to work for Northwest Engineering, a crane manufacturing company in Sept. 1955. Between the Navy and his job, he traveled 3/4's around the world. He loved working on anything mechanical from large cranes to small engines. He moved to three different states with his job and settled in Green Cove Springs in 1993. He worked for the crane division of MD Moody until May of 2002 when he retired. Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Judith (Elliott-Rowell); his children, Guy (Leslie) Nowak, Gilbert, Ariz.; JoAnn (Craig) Fischer, Denver, Colo.; Gilbert Nowak Jr., Tomah, Wis.; Brian Nowak, Oklahoma City, Okla.; Terri (Jay) Bartholomew, Milwaukee, Wis.; Becky (Rick) Nowak-Wied, Pulaski, Wis.; 20 grandchildren and 18 great- grandchildren. Gil was preceded in death by his parents. A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 12, at the American Legion Hall, N. St. Augustine St., Pulaski, with Rev. Robert Wied officiating. Military Honors to follow service at the Polish National Cemetery led by Rev. Cletus Ninham.
