Schneider Leonard J. Schneider, age 82, of Shawano, passed away Wednesday, July 29, 2009 at his home with his family at his side. Born on March 16, 1927 in Milwaukee, he was the son of the late Emil and Christina (Kubale) Schneider. Leonard was a veteran of the United States Army having served his country during World War II. On May 24, 1952 he was united in marriage to Marian Buelow in Clintonville. Together the couple lived in Sauk City for two years and in Juneau for three years, finally settling in Hartford where they lived for the next 45 years. While in Hartford, Leonard was the band director at Hartford Union High School for 31 years. In 1988 he retired and the couple moved to the Shawano area in 2002. Leonard was a member of the St. Martin Catholic Church in Cecil. He was also a member of the Wisconsin Band Masters Association and W.E.A. Leonard is survived by: his wife of 57 years, Marian; six children, Daryl (Kathy) Schneider of Shawano, Diane (Richard) Hicks of Sugarcreek, Ohio, Kathryn (Charles) Bublitz of Lomira, Jennifer (Cole) Braun of Oconomowoc, David (Myrna) Schneider of Pardeeville, Jackie Schwingel of Adams; 12 grandchildren, Bradley, Derek, Ursula, Kevin, Eric, Marla, Ross, Andrew, Craig, Evan, Lydia, Kyle; and four great-grandchildren, Jackson, Greta, Creighton, Layla. Leonard is further survived by: a sister, Corrine (John) Vieth of Sister Bay; and two brothers, Don (Doris) Schneider of Akron, OH and Rodney (Gael) Schneider of Phoenix, Ariz. Leonard was preceded in death by: his parents; seven sisters; and three brothers. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 1, at the Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano with the Rev. Len Evers officiating. Military rites will be conducted by Shawano American Legion Post 117 at the funeral home following the service. Entombment will be in the Sacred Heart Mausoleum. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday after 1 p.m. until the time of the service.
