He was born May 1, 1918, to Albert and Jenny Short. On Nov. 29, 1944, he was united in marriage to Frances Kleczewski at Hofa Park. John loved his wife and family, was devoted to his church and was passionate about farming. He was a lifetime member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Navarino, serving many years as trustee and usher. He was a 50-year member of the Catholic Knights. John took great pride in farming his whole life and was a member of the NFO for many years. Survivors include his wife, Frances sons, Ken (Marge) Short, Gillett Don (Carol) Short, De Pere Steve (Carol) Short, Navarino Norbert (Mary) Short, Pulaski Randy (Jean) Short, Bonduel Jerome Short, Chantilly, Va. daughters, Shirley (Keith) Johnson, Pulaski Betty (Gene) Arendt, Green Bay Marie (Steve) Fischer, Cecil Nancy (Dan) Nolan, Bonduel 28 grandchildren a great-grandchild brothers, Frank (Theresa) Short, Appleton Mike (Mona) Short, Mills Center sisters, Anne Jarchow, Fullerton, Calif. Rose (Bob) Foley, Bakersfield, Calif. Kate Short, Lancaster, Calif. and Mary (Gordy) Larson, Green Bay. He is further survived by Frances' family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Jenny Short-Klarner stepfather, Ed Klarner a brother, Joe (Irene) Short a sister, Helen (Ed) Jach brothers-in-law, Gordon Larson and Karl Jarchow and a nephew, Clayton Short. Friends may call at MuehlBoettcher Funeral Home, Seymour, from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday with a Parish Prayer Service at 8 p.m. to close the evening. Visitation will continue after 9:30 a.m. Friday at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Navarino, with a funeral Mass at 11 a.m. with Fr. Paul Paider and Sister Charlotte Rebbe officiating. Burial in the parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established. A special thank-you to Drs. Neu, Lawton, Smith and Blink the staff of Royce C. Lin Memorial Dialysis Center, Green Bay and the staff of St. Vincent Hospital for their special care, love and support the past seven years.
