Arthur A. Kasten, 92, Bonduel, died Monday, March 6, 2000, at Deerview Meadows Assisted Living Facility, Shawano. He was born March 28, 1907, to the late Johann Fredric and Mathilda (Bahrke) Kasten in the Town of Angelica. Arthur married Esther Moede March 28, 1930, in Waukegan, Ill. The couple lived in Long Lake where Arthur worked as a logger until they moved to a farm north of Bowler in 1936. Arthur was an active member of the community and was involved as a leader of the Ever Ready 4-H Club, served on the Bowler School Board and the Farm Bureau and Equity Organizations and the Bowler Advancement Association. The Kastens retired from farming in 1968 and moved to Bonduel where Arthur worked for Equity Livestock and Froelich Upholstery. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Bonduel and served on the Men's Club, Usher and Cemetery Committees. He resided at Deerview Meadows since 1998. Survivors include his wife, Esther and children, Betty Ann (John) Bowers, Sturgeon Bay Fred (Jane) Kasten, Omro Judy (Charles) Aldrian, Birchwood Roger (Pearl) Kasten, Shawano Marie (Ted) Salgado, Milwaukee Ruth (Pedro) San Drego, Gulf Breeze, Fla. and Esther (Mike) Wiercinski, Pulaski 23 grandchildren 29 great-grandchildren a brother, John (Margaret) Kasten, Gillett brother-in-law, Norman Burmeister, Shawano and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Suzanne three infant children two sisters, Esther Burmeister and Ann Kasten a brother, Harry Kasten and sister-in-law, Emma Kasten. Funeral service will be Friday, March 10, at 11 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Bonduel, with Pastor Leonard Wildauer officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call at Wendt Funeral Home, Bonduel, Thursday 4 to 8 p.m. and at the church on Friday from 10 a.m. to the time of service. The family wishes to extend its thanks and heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Deerview Meadows and Pastor Wildauer for their support and assistance during these difficult days.
