VERONA - William R. Pollow, age 83, died on Friday, March 2, 2007, at the Waunakee Manor Care Center. He was born on Aug. 25, 1923, in Cross Plains, the son of William C. and Ann (Hommerding) Pollow. He was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Verona. He lived on his beloved "100 Year Farm" from 1932 until he moved to "The Lighthouse" assisted living facility in July 2005. The farm was sold for future development. The jewel of the pending Crosspoint development of the former Pollow farmset may involve a small plot of untouched natural prairie and hopefully this can be worked into the green spaces of the future development. The family would love to have this parcel named, the "Pollow Prairie" in honor of the Pollow family's longtime standing in the Verona area. He spent the last two months of his life rehabilitating at the Waunakee Manor Care Center. He was quick to laugh and was known for his enthusiastic wave to friends and even to strangers. He loved to "high five" h! is fellow residents when he moved to the assisted care facility. His favorite past times were watching state sports, game shows and playing bingo. He had a profound love for animals. His legs did not work, but his heart did for 83 years, until it finally failed him on Friday, March 2, 2007. Survivors include, Bernice Legro and sons, Ron (Michele) Legro of Milwaukee, Larry (Carol) Legro of Sun Prairie, David (Pam) Legro and son, Tyler Legro of Weston, Douglas (Cindy) Legro of Bonduel, Wis., Gene Legro of Antigo, Shari Legro of Antigo, John (Debbie) Legro of Deerbrook, Wis., Cathy (Collin) Legro, Eau Claire and Lorraine Marquardt of Shawano.
