He was born April 5, 1922 to Martin and Catherine (Sroka) Zima. Stanley served in the Infantry 114th Regiment44th Division First Battalion during World War II throughout France, Germany, and Austria. His unit landed on the beaches of Normandy. On October 26, 1946 he married Evelyn Smigelski at St. Casimir Church in Krakow. The couple resided in Krakow most of their married life. Evelyn preceded him in death in October of 1997. After his discharge from the Armed Forces, Stanley worked in construction for Tenor Brothers and as a mechanic at Zima's Garage. He also ran a dairy farm and operated his own welding and repair shop in Krakow. His list of inventions begins with a four-hundred horsepower snowblower and his unique tricycles, one of which travels the country with the Shriners. Stanley was a member of the PLAV Post #178, Krakow and the VFW Post #9719, Pulaski. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Dennis & Kathy Zima, Oconto Falls; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Carol & Ed Galkowski, Keshena, Cindy Rocheleau and special friend Denis Hujet, Krakow, Joan & Jim VanDenElzen, Green Bay; six grandchildren, Allan Zima, Shawn Nowak, Dawn Drahiem, Dionne Rocheleau, Todd Rocheleau, and Jesse VanDenElzen, six step-grandchildren; Jamie VanDenElzen, Shawn Galkowski, Tanya Baenen, Tiffany Gumina, Jim Ritter, Eric Ritter; four great-grandchildren and 12 step great-grandchildren; one sister, Helen Demeny, and two brothers, John Zima and Casey Zima. In addition to his parents and his wife, Evelyn, he was preceded in death by four sisters; Mary Gurke, Margaret Jagodzinski, Regina Pawelczyk and Judy Karolczak, and three brothers, Joseph, Anton, and Frank Zima. Friends may call at Marnocha Funeral Home, Pulaski from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Friday. A Veterans Service will take place at 7:00 p.m., followed by the Wake Service at 7:30 p.m. The visitation continues after 9:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Casimir Church in Krakow. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church, Fr. James Esser, O.F.M. presiding. Burial with full military honors will follow in the parish cemetery.
