Golz, age 75, of Edwardsville, died at 4:11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 10, 2002, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville. He was born on March 29, 1927, in Fall River, Wis., the son of the late Paul and Martha Splieth Golz. He married LuVerne Behrens on Aug. 6, 1950. She survives. Also surviving is a daughter: Paulette Berkbigler and husband, Andrew of Edwardsville; two sisters: Eleanor Schoeffler and Evelyn Klyzub, both of Racine, Wis.; two brothers: Guilbert Golz of Elmhurst and Rev. Roland Golz of Gresham, Wis.; and two grandchildren: Paul and Holly Berkbigler, both of Edwardsville. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother: Alfred Golz. Mr. Golz was an instructional assistant at Woodland Elementary for 13 years. He was also past principal at Immanuel Lutheran School in Okawville for five years and Concordia Lutheran School in Frohna, Mo., for 34 years. His memberships included the Trinity Lutheran Church, the Men's Club, and the Adult and Men's Choir. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 13, at Irwin Chapel of Glen Carbon. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 14, at Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. Gary Galen, pastor, officiating. Interment will be at Sunset Hills Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon. Memorials are suggested to the Lutheran Hour, the church, or the American Heart Association.
