Turkow, Viola B. Of Appleton. Age 88, died Saturday, September 9, 2000 at Franciscan Care Center, following a lengthy illness. Viola was born January 31, 1912 in Burnett, Wisconsin, daughter of the late Rudolph and Eliza (Eggert) Young. She married Wilburt Turkow on January 23, 1932 in Appleton, and they enjoyed 43 years of marriage until he preceded her in death in 1975. Viola spent many years volunteering in the Auxiliary at Northwest General Hospital in Milwaukee. She loved sports, and was known to watch one game on television, and listen to another on the radio. Viola is survived by two sons, Lawrence (Doris Larson) Turkow, Gresham, Wisconsin; Allen (Lucy) Turkow, Morrisville, North Carolina; four daughters, Nancy (Martin) Hintz, Appleton; JoAnn (Robert) Ackman, Appleton; Julie (Charles) Luepke, Shiocton; Cindy (Billy) Hatcher, Milwaukee; a sister, Norma Winter, Appleton; 16 grandchildren and 30 greatgrandchildren. Viola is further survived by many nieces and nephews. Sh! e was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law Joyce Turkow. Viola's Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, September 11, 2000 at the Funeral Home, with Rev. Thomas Part officiating. Friends will be received at the Funeral Home from 9:00 AM until the time of Service on Monday. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Viola's name. The family would like to extend a special thanks to her adopted family-the nurses, staff, and especially Colleen, in Unit Three at Franciscan Care Center, for their loving care during Viola's stay.
