Born Aug. 23, 1911, in Mattoon, WI, the daughter of Frank and Rosina (Zangl) Rothbauer, Isabelle attended Ripon College and was employed by the Fond du Lac Commonwealth Reporter. She married John Schwarz on June 22, 1946, and lived with him in Cincinnati, OH, Camden and Fond du Lac, WI. They moved to Westfield in 1960. Throughout her life, Isabelle was deeply religious and worked for her local parishes in many capacities. She was a member of the Third Order of Saint Francis, the Altar Society and the National Catholic Society of Foresters, and a volunteer at Saint Anne's parish in Garwood. After her husband's death in 1977, Isabelle was employed by the Archdiocese of Newark in the church office at Immaculate Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church in Scotch Plains. After retiring at age 85, Isabelle lived with her daughter in Ewing before moving to Saint Mary's Residence at Morris Hall in 1997, where she continued her lifelong love of writing by writing for the Morris Hall newsletter. Isabelle also enjoyed baking, gardening, crafts and spending time with family, friends and acquaintances in Wisconsin and New Jersey. Isabelle was predeceased by her parents, her husband, and her sister, Flora Rothbauer of Fond du Lac. Surviving are her daughters, Rose Mary Schwarz of Ewing and Ann Schwarz of Friday Harbor, WA, and two granddaughters, Alyssa Spiro Mierta of Allentown, PA, and Ilona Spiro of Wakefield, MA. A memorial service and Mass will be held at a future date. Burial will be at Hazel Wood Cemetery in Rahway. The family extends their appreciation to the staff and administration of Morris Hall for the care and support provided to Isabelle and her family during her 11 years there. Memorial contributions may be offered to Morris Hall. Funeral arrangements are by Orland's Ewing Memorial Chapel,1534 Pennington Road, Ewing.
