Born Sept. 8, 1923, in Rockford, the daughter of Dr. Phillip J. and Madeleine (Randolph) Boyd. Married Eugene O. Brown on June 11, 1949, in Rockford he died June 18, 1984. Graduate of St. Catherine High School in Dubuque, Iowa. She worked at Admiral Co. in Harvard until they closed in 1978, retiring from Oaks Industries in 1984. Betty Jean loved to play cards with her family and bingo. Survivors include her daughter, Madelyn "Lynn" (Dennis) Duncan of Rockford and their children, Ross Smith, Tammy (Tom) Chilson, Nancy (Chris) Honaker and Jamie Duncan daughter, Kathleen "Kathy" Stern of Colorado Springs and her children, Karen (Chris) Gault, Dana, Crystal, David and Tyler Stern daughter, Cheryl (William) Patrick of Woodstock son, James "Jim" Brown of Mattoon, Wis., and his children, Melanie and Jimmy son, John Brown and his children, Nathan and Rebecca 17 gre! at-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews and friends. Predeceased also by her parents and brother, Randolph Boyd. The family would like to extend their gratitude to Dr. Craig Rogers and the nurses and staff of Rockford Memorial Hospital for their kindness and care of our mother and family in our time of need. Service at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 30, in Honquest Family Funeral Home, North Mulford Chapel, 4205 N. Mulford Road, with visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 29. Pastor Bob Taylor of First Assembly Church will officiate. Burial in Greenwood Cemetery.
