Maynard was born Oct. 31, 1931, in Aniwa to the late George and Hazel (Mortensen) Mogensen. Maynard was baptized at Bethany Lutheran Church, town of Easton. He married Nancy Rahn on Sept. 6, 1958. He became a member of the Zion Lutheran Church of Wausau in 1958. Maynard served in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1954, stationed in France. He worked for Marmet for 35 years, and later retired from Kolbe and Kolbe in 1996. Maynard was current president, and also had served as secretary and treasurer, for the Marathon County Beekeepers Association. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and very active as a beekeeper for many years. Maynard is survived by his wife, Nancy; two sons, Eric (Barbara) Mogensen of Milwaukee and Leif (Rebecca) Mogensen of Madison; and four grandchildren, Elizabeth, Maxwell, Owen and Jack. He is further survived by a brother and sisters, Vivian (Stanley) Nelson of Aniwa, Loretta Eiden of Wausau, Phyllis Ament of Wausau, Harley (Sylvia) Mogensen of Glendale, Ariz., Arlene (Oliver) Hoppe of Aniwa, Charlotte (Jerry) Bown of Reinbeck, Iowa, Janette Wallace of Wausau and Karen (Ron) Frye of Mount Hope; brother- and sister-in-law, Tom and Sue Rahn of Weston; and many nieces and nephews. Maynard was preceded in death by two brothers, Kenneth and Donald. Funeral services will be at noon Monday, Jan. 9, 2006, at Zion Lutheran Church in Wausau. The Rev. Steven Gjerde will officiate. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery in Wausau. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at Helke Funeral Home in Wausau, and Monday from 11 a.m. until the time of services at the church. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the UW Cancer Center, Aspirus Wausau Hospital and the Hospice House for their exceptional care and treatment.
