Comer McCUNE - Berga J. Comer 91, of McCune died at 4:10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2008, at St. John's Regional Medical Center following a short illness. She was born Nov. 9, 1916, in Gresham, Wis., to William Clark and Margaret (Miller) Davids. She was raised in the Stockbridge-Munsee Community in East Central Wisconsin before settling in McCune after World War II. She had been a part of the Mc-Cune community for 70 years. In 1941, she married James Edward Comer Jr. in Wisconsin. He preceded her in death in 1970. She worked as a registered nurse for the Public Health Administration in Kansas for more than 40 years. She retired in the mid 1970s. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Parsons, the Professional Nursing Organization and Stockbridge-Munsee Band of Mohicans. Survivors include two sons, Phil Comer of McCune and Steve Comer and his wife, Kate Hubbs, of Sand Lake, N. Y.; three grandchildren, Debra Criner, Kayli Comer and Colton Comer; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; a stepson, James Edward Comer III; and 10 brothers and sisters. The service will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Fort Scott National Cemetery in Fort Scott with the Rev. David Domanski officiating. Friends may call from noon to 8 p.m. Sunday at Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in Pittsburg.
