Rebbe Sr. -- PETERSBURG John Leo Rebbe Sr., 76, of Petersburg died Tuesday, Sept. 14, 1999, at his residence. He was born April 22, 1923, in Petersburg, the son of John Leo and Marguerite M. Heflin Rebbe. He married Pauline M. Eaves in 1948 in Petersburg; she died in 1995. A daughter, Maureen Hughes, also preceded him in death. Mr. Rebbe retired as a salesman from Brad Ragan, Inc. He was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church in Petersburg, VFW Post 6871 and American Legion Post 198, both for 53 years, the Menard Club and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Survivors: a daughter, Jacqueline (husband, Gene) Horn of Petersburg; a son, John L. Rebbe Jr. of Petersburg; four grandchildren; three great-granddaughters; five sisters, Margaret Thomas of Little Rock, Ark., Frances Ramsey of Littleton, Colo., Sister Charlotte Rebbe of Bonduel, Wis., Judy Bennett of Decatur and Connie Stuhmer of Petersburg; four brothers, James and Philip Rebbe, both of Petersburg, Ronald Rebbe of Springfield and Larry Rebbe of Ashland.
