"Dick" Zander GILROY, CA - Richard A. "Dick" Zander passed away July 26, 2005, at the age of 84. Mr. Zander was born in Prairie City, Illinois on April 14, 1921. After serving his country in the U. S. Army, he returned to Port Huron, Michigan to raise his family, they then moved to Gilroy, CA in 1968. He retired from Gilroy Unified School District. He loved to golf and had a passion for the H.A.M. radio. He is survived by his daughter, Dawn Carol Perry of Gilroy, CA; sons and daughters-in-law, Donald and Judy Zander, Richard M. Zander and Bonnie Reed, all of Gilroy, CA, Leon and Diane Zander of Croswell, MI, and Michael and Linda Zander of Gresham, Wisconsin; his grandchildren, Dawn Marie and Ben Anderson, Brett Zander, Michael and Christina Voorhees, all of Gilroy, CA, Cindy and Steve Thompson of Melvin, MI, and David and Jennifer Zander of Hollister; great-grandchildren, Kaytlin and Reese Anderson and Thomas Voorhees of Gilroy, CA, Davin Zander of Hollister, CA and Dana, Tara and Emma Thompson of Melvin, MI; and sister-in-law, Dorothy Zander of Mt. Sterling, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Avonne Zander; his grandson, Stephen Zander; his brother Robert Zander; and his son-in-law, Edward Perry. The memorial service will be Monday, August 29, 2005 at 5:30 p.m. at Gilroy Presbyterian Church, 6000 Miller Ave. Gilroy, CA 95020. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Richard A. Zander to: The V. A. Palo Alto Health Care System, Menlo Park Division Bldg, 324795 Willow Road, Menlo Park, CA 94025.
