Eugene C. "Gramps" Spranger, age 79, of Black Creek, passed away Tuesday, July 28, 2009, at Good Shepherd Nursing Home in Seymour. He was born April 5, 1930, in Navarino, son of the late Clarence and Viola (Conradt) Spranger. On May 19, 1951, he married Betty Kappell. The couple moved to Appleton and later settled on their farm in Shiocton. Farming brought Gene and his family to their final homestead on Highway G, where they retired in 1986. In addition to his wife Betty, he is survived by three daughters: Nancy (Marshall) Ort, Shiocton; Sue Fischer, Appleton; Kathy (Randy) Schmidt, Black Creek; three sons: Bill (Carla) Spranger, Appleton; Jim (Cheryl) Spranger, Clintonville; Eugene Jr. "Smiley" Spranger, Black Creek; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren and numerous foster children including: Cora Gegare, Appleton and Debbie McGlin, Black Creek. He is also survived by two brothers: Myron (Helen) Spranger, Seymour and Donny (Reick) Spranger, Kaukauna; two sisters: Carol Spranger, Appleton; Shirley Salenro, Appleton; many nieces and nephews; a sister-in-law, Kathy Kappell, Appleton; and an aunt, Catherine (Bill) Rusch, Seymour. Gene was preceded in death by his parents, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. Friends may call at Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home on Monday, August 3, 2009, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Visitation will continue on Tuesday, August 4, 2009, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Black Creek from 10 a.m. until funeral services at 11 a.m. with Pastor Steve Schlicht officiating.
